X wing 2.0

and mostly things from GW
Two gangs for Necromunda (my all time favorite game) this year
New starte with Rogue traders (I dont care about the game but I need models)
New Wraith undead  for AoS (again I dont care for the rules but those models I want to field in Dragon Rampant)
There was some talk about Pulp Alley 2nd edition IIRC but I am not sure it will be released this year.

Thats the things I am waiting for

I guass this year after 15 years I am again excited mainly in GW stuff.. :O

I ve been buying so far Necromunda, Shadespire (both last year releases) and What a Tanker.

Surprisingly no historical game apart from What a Tanker pick my attention in 2018.
But I am considering Anno Domini 1666 (hybrid skirmish game and board game) if for the miniatures themselves which are beauties.

So far Sellswords & Spellslingers has really inspired me to try out new stuff (28mm! fantasy!) and even improve my painting a bit  :)

And I'm eagerly awaiting the nautical supplement for Sharp Practice, which may or may not come out this year...

It's probably more late 2017 than 2018, but they're keeping it up; and it's not new, but a return, the return of a bit of humour to Games Workshop. Not to mention Specialist Games.

And I love this video of theirs - watch it to the end, worth it:

To name a few cool upcoming games and miniature ranges

Northstar Miniatures Oathmark (want those plastic wolf riders now!)
Northstar Miniatures Frostgrave Plastic Female Soldiers to be released end this year
Para Bellum Wargames Conquest (interesting concept, artwork, miniatures and world)
The Drowned Earth Skirmish Game (super cool miniatures including dinosaurs, interesting wargame rules and artwork)

Probably missed a dozen other cool games and miniatures!

I have almost everything I need (though I'm happy to add to my collections) but nothing new started.  The "new projects" are largely from my lead/plastic mountain and reflect the interests of our grandchildren.  So Zombies (see my Dedburgh games), Jason and the Argonauts (really Greek Mythology) and Early Imperial Romans (youngest grandson will study them next year in school).  For me I am writing the rules and creating a WW2 (Late) German battlegroup from my various scrap boxes.  This is a really fun project.

I'm quite excited about the idea of the Anglo-Norman range that Footsore are supposed to be working on as it's one of my favourite periods. They have already shown a William Marshall miniature on Facebook a while ago. Victrix Vikings look interesting but I'm more interested in what they do for the Saxons as I think a lot of the current late Saxon ranges lack something... I also am keeping an eye on the Empress WW2 range... I'm not quite so happy about recent price rises by certain companies although Black tree have just dropped theirs across the board.

nothing has grabbed me as new or exciting enough to be considered anything more than a distraction.

everything seems dull and stale or has done a great job killing itself or simply isn't active.
past couple of years has been a boring time for wargaming.

All the new Glorantha RPG material has gotten me back into gaming the setting. This, and the new Forge of Ice KS will keep me busy. No new games as such, but fodder to fuel my imagination.

For me, the best new stuff is made by us, rather than the companies.

I can only speak with respect to GW stuff. I find GWs own output mostly a bit stale these days. But the quality of their plastic kits has enabled blogs like Iron Sleet, Ex-Profundis, and individuals like Nicolas Grillet and PDH to bring to light modelling possibilities in ways that also open up setting possibilities - it is incredibly inspiring. And they (the blogs etc) keep going from strength to strength.

What is new for me is that I am getting stuff painted! Projects are finally getting realised  (albeit slowly) that have just been in my head and in boxes for years.
2018 Painting Challenge

figures bought: Lost count after Salute and Hammerhead @700
figures painted: 70, 1 artillery piece

There has been very little "new" or innovative in wargaming for a while now.  A lot of rule sets and figures that are just like (or will be just like) all the current ones. Pretty much only existing ideas and content being rehashed and represented with minimal differences and a new look.

Minor differences between one set of rules and figures for the War of XYZ and the next, or one Orc or Star Destroyer and the next is nice for variation, but really does little or nothing to expand or move the hobby forward.

So far in 2018 I would suggest the only thing which actually develops the hobby is the Forward March Studios 2-3mm figure range. Not because 2mm is a new idea or scale, (it isn't) but because of the way the range is sold.
You buy the complete figure range as a licensed set of 3d print files and using your own printer or a commission 3d print service create as many figures of as many types and configurations as you want. Infantry, Cavalry, Guns, Wagons, scenery all included.
There have been an abundance of variable quality scenery sets (mainly via Kickstarter) done as 3d files but this is the first time a complete (and still growing) range of wargame figures is being offered this way.
