Title: [Commercial] Seleucid collection Aventine 18 11 2018
Post by: Aventine on August 11, 2017, 06:20:13 PM: We have completed most of the cavalry in the Hellenistic section so we have covered Pyrrhus, Macedonian, Seleucid and Ptolemaic heavy cavalry with either lance or spear and shield. There are 3 different armours with more to follow. The Breastplate figures have cloaks. All except the trumpeter in the HC 04 packs have separate heads so the combinations are vast. We listed them in the different sections to help with decision making. Adam is working on mixed pectoral and mail armour so we will be able to add Carthaginian and Merc. cavalry for the period as well. Here are some of the cloaked versions, the linothorax and scale photos are not great and I am retaking them when light is better.

Even though I have far more xystophoroi than I can ever use these will be added to the pile! They will be handy as bodyguard for generals.

Adam has been going down the separate head route for a while now and may well do the same with the generals, that will open the way for whatever style of head gear you want on them.

Actually the officer from HCP-04 (with the headband) looks like a General candidate in any event! I do appreciate separate heads which fit snugly - yours are good to glue and forget (no pinning/support needed). There look like some quite splendid helmets on offer.

Look forward to the Seleucids - interested in your take of the later Agema Cataphracts.

These are early period and we will be covering the later types soon. Next up will be mail and mixed pectoral armours then some Thorakitai and thureophoroi, then Thracian infantry and cavalry. Once they are completed it will be the Companions, Agema and cataphracts for the Seleucids. The 1/2 and fully armoured horses will appear then along with companion styled horses. That is the plan anyway.

Patience, sir! Keith said they were going to wrap up the Hellenistic cavalry before moving on to the Byzantines.

Using these and the new attic helmets they make Carthaginian cavalry, use the Montefortino and Samnite helmets and they become allied southern Italian cavalry used by both Rome and Carthage, listed this way to show the possibilities.

They have separate heads and a selection of helmets although the rank and file have an ascalon styled helmet as standard. They come in packs of 4 and the 16 figure unit deal. The packs have the new thureos shield, spears where applicable and standard. Next up thureophoroi and new Imitation Legionaries.

The figures come with separate heads so they can be exchanged at ordering for another in the range if you so desire. Linothorax versions now in the store. Based on 60 x 30mm Warbases and LBMS transfers on the shields.

Adam also added a pack of 4 character figures intended to be mixed in with the successor packs already in the store. Light here is rubbish so photos are not great.

I always assumed the depictions of Bactrian Greek kings with this headgear were just an allegorical image not a depiction of a real hat. Certainly a different option though.

Post by: Aventine on August 12, 2018, 09:50:22 AM: I used a transfer from the HB(AV)1 set by LBMS, I did not research the emblem on it just matched the colour I wanted. With hindsight the Eagle with lightning bolt would suggest Ptolemaic rather than Seleucid but given the local it would not be too much to say that the eagle could have been used by many not just Ptolemy anyway I liked it.

The bright green grass will be toned down in due course, it was what I got when I ordered summer grass lol.

Guessing has proved pointless as it is all down to Adam and how quickly he can get things done. The answer is as soon as I can get at them I will, cannot wait myself.

They have a new set of horses and the riders are one piece castings(apart from the weapons and standards). Next the last remaining infantry then the Byzantines.
