Hi folks,
since Fantasy Flight Games announced their new upcoming game Star Wars Legion I'm extremely hyped to jump into a galaxy far far away again and I've already started building my first board for the game: Jedha City! Most of the basic shapes of the buildings are already done and yesterday I've finished painting the first house. Was a lot fun so far and I really can't wait to continue!
Hope you like it
Cheers, Daniel

I've also created a little flyover video last week to see the basic construction:

Wow! That’s a great start! I can’t wait t see where you go with this. Are you thinking of doing the film set where the imperial tank gets ambushed?
-
That is very good.
-
Like that a lot. The little details on the walls are great.
-
Its glorious in pink.. When all of them will be made to first building standard. It will be epic!
-
Will follow with interest, as this is already a very beautiful start with the colours and textures you've created.
-
That looks terrific! Can't wait to see your progress.
-
This looks really cool. Keep it coming!
-
Wow, jaw-dropping :o
-
Looks amazing. What tools do you use to cut the foam so perfectly?
Cheers

If the entire board ends with the quality of the first finished building this will be rather good. :-*
-
Stunning work!

Awesome start, will be a great looking board once done 8)

Stunning work. I'll be watching for more for sure!

Wow! That’s a great start! I can’t wait t see where you go with this. Are you thinking of doing the film set where the imperial tank gets ambushed?
Well I don't want to copy the whole scenic design of the place but I really like some of its elements.
Looks amazing. What tools do you use to cut the foam so perfectly?
Thank you! I use a foam cutter / hot wire cutter.
In the meantime I continued with the basic shape of the buildings that are connected to the big arch.
I've also received my first 3D test print which was a simple Star Wars styled door.
Can't wait for the other prints like doors, evaporators etc. ;D
Cheers,
Daniel

-
great stuff.
-
That is some precise foam cutting!
-
Exceptional well done start.
-
That is some precise foam cutting!
"...too accurate for Sand People. Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise."
Lovely work!
-
Thank you guys!
In the meantime I finished building a small Jedi temple or shrine, which got highly ravaged by the Empire.
For the statues I converted a Obi Wan chess figure, molded and casted some copies.
Hope you like this little reminder of the ancient religion of the Jedi.
Best,
Daniel

Brilliant! That's a nice piece of scenery.

I was wrong. This one is even better!
-
I am loving your stuff. Please keep posting.
How did you 'Mould a few more statues'?
-
Stunning work, the archway will be great - like everything else anyway!
The Imperial flag provides a nice contrast to the temple.

My first thought was "THE EMPEROR! How appropriate for the Empire..." Then I read "reminder of the ancient religion of the Jedi" and thought, "well then, why the Emperor (who never ever claimed to be a Jedi)" and finally I read "Obi Wan". Now it´s all clear, but still the Emperor remains in my head when I look at it. However this is a great build and by no means any criticism. Well done!
-
This table is so impressive, great work!
-
Awesome!!! :-*
How big of a board are you going for?
-
Wonderful Daniel :-* :o
-
Wow! What a great job. That building looks amazing!
-
:-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
:o :o :o I can't wait to see the rest of the buildings.... :-* :-* :-*
-
Fantastic! :-* Now you just need a blind, Asian man with a staff, sitting outside! ;)
-
Excellent precision cut for the archway!
But the temple is extraordinary! :o
Very realistic weathering, even the destroyed statue has something to say!
Well done!
-
That is very good.
-
Lovely scenery!
The recessed statues look fantastic!
-
:-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Just :-*
-
Wow! :-*
-
Oh my!
-
Man, the Force is with you and you are one with the Force :o :o
-
Great stuff.
-
So jealous.
-
Thank you folks! :D

I made a silicon form of the statue and made some copies with plaster cast.
Awesome!!! :-*
How big of a board are you going for?
This one here is 90 cm x 90 cm, whats the same size as Fantasy Flight Games demo boards on conventions.
But I will definitely add a second part to get the full 180 cm x 90 cm, as the rulebook recommends.

In the meantime I've been working on adding a few more details to my first building:
AC installed,
lantern hung up,
imperial posters glued to the wall,
graffiti sprayed that says "i am one with the force and the force is with me"
Hope you like it.
Best,
Daniel

A visual feast. Thank you.
-
Great! Love the grafitti.
-
awesome work mate! they're gorgeous!!!!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Thank you guys!!
I've managed to finish the next building: an old and forgotten obelisk of the church of the force. Unfortunately this one lost its meaning even for citizens of Jedha, what you can clearly see in its condition.
Best,
Dan

Another wonderful creation! :-*
-
Looks great!
-
Another great model, Daniel! Congrats!
-
love your wiring and posters
-
I love the layered nature of this one, one only has to look at the back alleys of modern cities to see the old pipes nobody really knows what they do anymore.
-
Very good.
-
How did I miss this thread up till now? Wonderful indeed!!
-
Great details - the awning, the cables, and the metal fixtures rusting away are just splendid! 8) 8) 8)
-
Extraordinary work. The simple perfection of that obelisk... :o Following.
-
Thank you all for the kind words! :)
In the meantime I was proper productive and finished the big tower for the board. Especially the wall paintings were pretty fun and I'll focus to do more of them in future. I've also managed to finish the first two market stands. Really little stuff that brings a lot of extra life into the scenery.
Hope you like it!
Cheers,
Daniel

Truly amazing :o
-
This is so inspiring!
-
Holy crap, that's off the charts amazing... Tons of inspiration for my own projects. Can't wait to see more of what you have in store!
-
It's all pretty great, but I really like the work done on your large tower.
Awesome! 👍
-
Excellent building.
-
Those really are incredible, both in terms of construction and detailing.
Can I ask how you made the market stands?
-
The market stands are just PERFECT!!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
I’ve just caught this thread and he’ll it good inspiration
-
Perfect! :-*
Are the cables between the towers permanently attached?
-
:o :o :o :o Wow Amazing!! great building,very well done!!! :-*
-
Awesome stuff.
I echo the question about the cables, I can see the the orning which connects the two towers has little hooks on the corners but I can't see with the wires.
Do some of the larger pueces break down into smaller bits for storage?
-
really nice painting indeed
-
Simply awesome! :D
-
Superb - as good as the film set - at least 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
This is amazing :-*
Is this for a Demonstration game - if so where and when?
Do you have a Picture of the whole board so far?
-
Do you apply the plaster when it's pretty wet with a large (house) brush?
-
Thank you very much guys!
Those really are incredible, both in terms of construction and detailing.
Can I ask how you made the market stands?
Mostly out of thick wire and serviettes for the roofs.
Are the cables between the towers permanently attached?
No they are removable :)
This is amazing :-*
Is this for a Demonstration game - if so where and when?
Do you have a Picture of the whole board so far?
So far, two events at the beginning of 2019 are planned, both in Germany (Bad Kreuznach and Hamburg).
But personally I plan to finish the board within the next 3-4 months.
Do you apply the plaster when it's pretty wet with a large (house) brush?
Exactly. Thinned down plaster applied with a large brush.
In the meantime I managed to finish stand number 3!
The next one will definitely be a little BBQ place. But after that one? Any suggestions or ideas? :D
Cheers,
Daniel

-
So good, and soooooo inspiring! :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Jawdropping, Daniel!
-
This is beautiful!
-
Hollywood-esque! Of another world! :-*
-
Bloody beautiful.
Anyone that tries to play on this board with unpainted miniatures should be frozen in carbonite.
-
Any suggestions or ideas?.....yeah send it to me!
Honestly, that’s looking lush! :-*
-
Bloody marvellous!
-
Cannot wait to see minis on it ! Marvelous
-
Holy sh...
This is why I love/hate the LAF. I love seeing such amazing craftsmanship, but I hate it because all my stuff now looks like Bantha poodoo :D
Seriously, this could be the best Star Wars scenery I've ever seen. Don't be surprised if I steal a lot from your incredible project!
As far as suggestions go, how about some...walls? Or, maybe...stairs? (my blown mind Can't come up with anything right now, sorry...) o_o
-
Same happens to me , Sir.
but in the end we are improving our scenery due to such stunning projects.... Congratulations again for such scenary..waiting to see the whole board. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
A game in a scenery like this will be AWESOME!!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
:-* :-* :-* I'm totally agree...best Star Wars scenery I've ever seen!!!
-
Whoa! Just discovered this thread. Truly inspiring scenery. Wonderfully executed and superbly evocative.
-
Thank you very much guys!
In the meantime I finished the next stall.
I thought: What would be Jedha City without a souvenir shop? So now available: Jedi statues and spiritual tokens for all the Force pilgrims coming to visit the Holy City ;D

Daniel
-
Very nice. :-* :-* :-*
-
Cool idea and lovely little sculpts.
-
Lovely work :-* :-* :-*
-
Wowza! Are they CD Cargo crates BTW?
-
Love those souvenir statues. I guess you sculpted them yourself but if not may I ask the manufacturer? They would be so useful as large statues for 6mm and 3mm.
-
The souvenir shop is a fantastic idea! :-* Well done! A little gem to your scenery!
-
Awesome eye candy🤙
-
Perfect! Just the right amount of stuff and rubbish scattered about! :-*
-
Great idea well implemented.
-
We'll see them on sale in Disney in the next six months!
-
Well done, both idea and sculpt!
-
:-* :-* :-* Holly.... piece!!! Great job!!
-
Do you have any updates on this project?
Are you planning to play using Star Wars Legion or something else?
Regards
Mick
-
Your buildings are f*** amazing!
Would you have a setting situation with Legion miniatures so that we realize their size?
-
The op has added to this fantastic stuff, but I'm afraid he's not updated here. There are more photos on his farcebook page.
-
Here is a link to his Facebook page so you can see updates.
