Title: Horror rules - recommendations
Post by: Otoroshi on October 31, 2017, 03:57:57 PM
Hello, does anyone have any recommendations for a very flexible set of miniature rules? It doesn't have to be for horror games per se, but if one is out there, all the better.

Specifically, I'm looking to be able to construct rules for all sorts of scenarios. So one game might be a group of outlaw bikers versus vampires; another might be an attack by a writhing mass of blobs; yet another might be a siege by sea-weed draped Lovecraftian horrors on a group of soldiers wearing mech-suits.

So I need something with a lot of options. If it doesn't cover something explicitly, I'd like to be able to easily come up with stats on my own.

Savage Worlds? Fear and Faith?

Eventually I'll have to post pictures of the wild gaming table I'm building for this.

Fear and Faith would work for that.
Also Road Rage by West Wind.
Also Combat Zone. Go to Combat zone chronicles online
and you will find many articles on using monsters ect.

Otoroshi, welcome to LAF!

PULP ALLEY, specially with the Horror Deck!  :-*

BTW: It's an unbiased opinion, because I don't play PA (my group use our own homebrew system instead) BUT years of gaming and a tactical background allow me to say: that's a GREAT ruleset!
 ;)

AND the authors are really, really nice people and easily reached through LAF's Pulp section!  :D

Sounds like a fun. Pulp Alley definitely covers that style of game/setting.

Have fun! Feel free to download our free Quickstart rules and see if Pulp Alley fits your style of play -- https://store.pulpalley.com/

Fear and Faith would work well also give Rippers the Horrors War a look. With Rippers it also gives you a character profile for all the West Wind horror figures.

Another option is SuperSystems.  Very flexible and easy to play, handles mobs of 'normals', the 'super hero' powers can cover a wide variety of critters.

"SuperSystems" for Horror is called Chaos in Carpathia!  ;)
