Title: 15mm Lurkio Chimu
Post by: madaxeman on November 05, 2017, 05:34:54 PM
You know how it goes, you have lots of stuff on the painting table, some of which you might need fairly soon... but that long-neglected project somehow insinuates itself into your mind and forces it's way to the front even thought it's of no use whatsoever?

Well, in the last week or so, that project for me has been painting a DBA v3 Chimu Imperial Army 1350-1480AD from Lurkio (http://www.madaxeman.com/main/Chimu_2018.php), that I won in a competition more than a year ago.

I don't really play DBA all that often, I have no intention of expanding the army to a full ADLG one, but these guys had been waiting to be painted and, well, one day I just got the bug...

Nice DBA army!

Now, why the heck was this post moved from the ancients board to "other", among Blood Bowl and who knows what else??? For many people, DBA is the only ancients game that they'll play...

Aha!

So, without a European angle, pre-contact historical gaming set in South America is relegated to the "clown" board...?

Indeed... this has happened to some of my other posts too.  I'd have thought that with these guys, it would not have been entirely unreasonably to suggest that the Aztec-era cultures of South America were "touched by European influence" - assuming that "touched" can be used to mean "almost totally eradicated by in a genocidal conflict that utterly, and dramatically changed the geopolitical face of two whole continents

Aaaah - I see.  I misread the definition, and these guys technically don't fit in Ancients - this is the "right" place.

Chewing through the various definitions of LAF boards, I suspect its down to LAF having it's own unique taxonomy when most other boards elsewhere seem to broadly adopt the "WRG" definitions of what are "ancients", "renaissance" and other historical periods.

Maybe I just need to be more careful to RTFM before posting :-)
