Title: AAR - End of Year IHMN: Further London Rooftop Adventures!
Post by: agentbalzac on December 14, 2017, 05:18:09 AM
Ladies, Gentleman and Sasquatches,

Please find herein a few pics of the IHMN goings-on at Perth Miniature Gamer's Group last night.

Lot's of fun as usual, a treasure hunt among the fog-bound London rooftops, with the added spice of a werewolf (and a steampunk gorilla) on the loose, rampaging among the slippery slates!

The scene - a corner of London. The Eiffel MkIV Dirigible Mooring Tower, recently constructed on St Swithin's Common for the Imperial Airship Company, looms over the chilly slates:

Another view of the murky city.  The moonlight catches on the fog, falsely softening the appearance of the gritty scene:

It was on the 'epic' end of the IHMN gaming spectrum - put on as an end of gaming year spectacular - we had nine (!) players using 150pt mini Companies.  Points were given for taking out opponents, finding treasure (hidden under the chimney stacks), and/or capturing the werewolf who was trying to escape to the dirigible mooring tower.  It was, I confess as games master, somewhat tricky to wrangle all the players together and keep things moving, but all played along in good spirits.

Those participating:

In the technically challenging environment of the rooftops, where any slip means death, the game devolved into a series of nasty skirmishes, with no quarter asked, and none given.  Tarzan managed to subdue the Werewolf, then promptly disturbed The Gibichüng, a hideous, tortured hybrid of gorilla and steam engine, which had been trapped in a dingy garret by his depraved creator.

Not content to subdue a Werewolf with his silver blade, Lord Greystoke acquaints himself with a hideous perversion of a jungle beast:

Meanwhile Hussars and their Marine comrades used their spring translocators to fan out across the rooftops, unearthing hazards along the way.  In another corner of this desperate stage, Lord Curr’s men fought a desperate battle with the RCMP, at first achieving the upper hand by despatching the Sasquatch, but then one by one falling victim to the Shaman, whose rage at the loss his living spirit totem gave his nightstick unholy strength.

Hussars search among the chimney stacks:

Stunned by the early loss of their leader, the US Marshals manœuvered to a position on the mooring tower, to take potshots at the Legionnaires as they in turn fought a deadly battle, bayonet-to-naginata with the ninja.  Borrage’s Lads peppered the Royal Marines, though they lost a man who unfortunately crashed through a skylight.

Borrage's Lads survey the roofs through the sights of their rifles:

...meanwhile, from atop the mooring tower, the Légion Étrangère can be seen duking it out with ninja and hussars. In the distance, a Royal Marine Rocketeer scans the fight:

'Mad' Mick MacFarlane makes his last stand against the RCMP:

As the yellow moon slinks downward, the US Marshals take up a position among the cold beams of the iron tower:

It was a most enjoyable evening with all the hilarity and dastardly derring-do one could anticipate, with lashings of ginger ale.   lol

A truly stupendous way to end the gaming year!  Enjoy!

Sooo-bloody-perb. Love the invention. Love the scenery. Love the account and love the “throw-in-the-kitchen-sink nature of the selection of Companies. All the favourites are there.

Well done.

Doug
