I recently finished the bases of these Anglo Danes. I only have 6 pts. Of Irish, so I thought it would be nice to have an opponent at hand. I mixed Gripping Beast, Footsore and Saxon Miniatures and really like how they work together.

They look great!

Fantastic work 8) 8) 8) 8)

My Irish.
The Warlord. He is, like the rest of my warband, equiped with javelines. It was this miniature, sculpted by Bill T. of Footsore Miniatures, that caused my craving for the Irish. I chose to paint all the shields black, because in Cornwells Arthur books the Irish have such shields and I liked the idea then. The rest of the warband is almost entirely made of Footsore Miniatures, Irish with some Picts mixed in. The Dogs and the Priest are from Gripping Beast.

Two Curaidhs:

My "Death Star", 10 Fiannas. Everyone knowing the Irish battleboard knows what havoc they cause when 3 geese are rolled:

The Dogs (one is missing, but it is a 8 "men" unit):

2x8 Warriors:

That is, in my opinion, a very though 6 pt. army.
I also have a few other miniatures ready, Fianna with Daneaxes:

And a warrior priest:

Hi,
Oh my goodness. :o :o :-*
They are very good. :)
-
Awesome!
-
Fantastic warband!
-
Wow! Very nice. Lovely selection of figures. I'm waiting on Footsore's Vikings.
-
Very impressive and it does make one wonder why we do not see more Dark Age Irish armies?
-
Such lovely painting, wonderful!

I also have no clue :D
Mr. J, I am very excited what FM will unleash in 2018. Vikings and Normans, Gangs of Rome and later in the year early Byzantines sculpted by Steve Saleh-marvellous.
-
That is a fantastic army, very well painted. I wish you luck in your forthcoming battles.
-
Fantastic painting on the Irish! I love the subdued tone you went with on them. As to the upcoming releases, I may well get into the Viking era if I'm not careful. Byzantines will be pretty awesome too!
-
I saw these on the Saga forums so I will post the same thing I posted there: these are awesome! :D
-
Wonderful painting, man ! :-*
-
Thank you for your kind comments, very appreciated!

Lovely painting Hazel.

Those are certainly beautiful miniatures! On a different note, how do you make those trees???

I use Rubberised horsehair or branches of "sea foam"(that's the German name translated, I do not know the correct english term), spray them dark brown, spray adhesive and flock from the model railroad store.

I finished 8 Warriors for my slowly growing Anglo-Danes. I really like Saxon infantry Standing firm, but there are not many miniatures available in this pose. I mixed Gripping Beast and Saxon Miniatures.

That is all for now, I wish all of you and your loved ones Merry Christmas!

Nice work again Jan.

If you just knew how inspiring that is...
Thanks for setting my brush in the right direction again!
-
As I stated on sweetwater fantastic work Jan! :-*

Beautifully done.
FYI, Essex have a fair number of standing Saxons in their 28mm range. I don't have any of the figures, so I can't comment on their quality or size (although I think they are compatible with GB).
-
Just wonderfully painted figures, fantastic work! Merry Christmas for you too!
-
Superb stuff as always! Hope there will be a chance to see these close up in the new year.
-
Fantastic work!
-
Wish I could paint like that!
-
Super stuff
-
Very nice!

Thanks Humakt! I was not aware of the Crusader Saxons, they look fine. And yes, the spears are ugly but replacing them will not be a problem.

Great painting. The grey streaks in the hair here and there are a great detail. I like doing that myself too. Keep up the good work!
