Title: 3mm World War I
Post by: Inkpaduta on December 26, 2017, 03:16:49 AM
I recently saw that Pico Armor (O8) is doing a line of 3mm WWI.
Was wondering if anyone has these figures and could give me a
idea what they are like? So far, the range is Br. Fr. and German for
the late Western Front. I am hoping the line will be expanded from there.

I have the late war French infantry, support weapons, and tanks. They are beautiful figures and vehicles. Well proportioned, superbly sculpted, and cast without significant flash. Highly recommended if you want something in this scale, which will let you reproduce some of the larger battles on standard tables.

Here is a photograph of the late war French infantry from Oddzial Ósmy:

The 15mm Peter Pig German Lewis gunner provides a comparison for you. This photograph shows the same figures from the back:

Excellent paint job and they look like great figures.
This could be an upcoming project for me this year!

I love the detail you were able to provide on the 3mm figures.
What rules are you using?

Thank you. The painting detail reflects the superb quality of the sculpts and the casting.

I use Great War Spearhead 2 for rules. Here (http://www.greatwarspearhead.com/battle-reports/battle-of-matz/) is an example of a game featuring 6mm late war French and German figures.

I have some 3mm French and Germans. I can certainly verify their quality.

The painting in this thread is phenomenal. How are you planning to base them? Also, I have never seen the houses painted before, I might have to pick some of them up.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I plan to base them on 3/4" x 3/4" Litko ultra-thin plywood bases then alter the Great War Spearhead ground scale accordingly. This will allow me to model larger scale battlefields on smaller tables. This link contains examples of the sort of thing that I have done with 6mm figures:

Click here (http://www.greatwarspearhead.com/battle-reports/) (particularly the examples of the Marne, Krasnik, First Ypres, Somme, Vimy Ridge, and Messines.
