Title: Victorian slang
Post by: Thunderchicken on December 26, 2017, 09:43:25 PM
Ever wondered how some of your Victorian characters may have spoken?

Then look no further, as there's some great slang here (batty-fang is one of my favourites):

That was bang up to the elephant, that was. It gave me a right Gigglemug and got rid of the morbs, even if I wasn't half rats and mad as hops! Some of them would make a stuffed bird laugh and you'd let your sauce box run off and leave you proper poked up. It all made sense though, totally umble cum stumble it was.

What a wonderful collection!  :D

If I might add to the collection a bit: A while back I found a synopsis of Victorian Lower Class and Underworld slang on the interweb. I transcribed it into a PDF, and I don't remember the source, but here it is for your edification and approval.
