Title: Darathar's Tales Of GrimDarkness!!! - (New with space elf bard)
Post by: Darathar on December 27, 2017, 10:56:09 AM
Hey all, this thread will be for all the 40k, Necromunda and all other manner of things I paint for my ever growing collection of 40k models.

The First set of figures I have made is a Rogue Trader crew. This Crew is actually one of the more legit Imperial crews I'll be making. I plan to make alot of small crews that are more diverse and out on the fringes of the Imperium with all manner of Xenos and other Scumbags filling there ranks.

I'll be using the Rogue stars rule set for these guys for small RPGish battles set in the background of the Imperium.

First the Rouge Traders semi-legal henchmen... both dangerous Xenos of course.

The guy on the left is a reaper space Henchman figure and the guy on the right is made of chaos Marauders and Cadian bits.

Now for The Rogue Trader and his right hand Wolfman...

The Rogue Trader is a Privateer Press Rutger Shaw model and the wolfman is made from a privateer press Argus head and Ork nob Bitz with a Green Stuff fur back and hands and Space wolf tail. I was trying for a 40k version of Han Solo and Chewbacca with these two guys.

And a Group shot of them all.

I've got alot more 40k, Necromunda and other 40k projects on the go so I'll be back soon with more.   :)

Thanks alot guys  :)
Next up is a pair of Mercenaries scumming it up outside a wine sink looking for any work they can find... for the Imperium or otherwise.

They are made from reaper dreadmere mercenaries with gw gubbins on them.

Next up is Plague Father Vernan and his crew.
Plague Father Vernan was a noble of the Imperium untill he found a Death Guard artifact from the days of the Heresy. It was a Gauntlet from a traitor captain who's name is lost to time, the gauntlet possessed Vernan and "blessed" his body, mind and soul.
Now he leads his devoted from world to world striking from the darkest corners looking for others to follow in Papa Nurgle's light.

They are a mix of GW cultists, possessed and Goblin town Goblins from GWs hobbit range.

I like the mercenaries. Nice way to bring a fantasy miniature into technofantasy :D. The figures look like they could converted to civilians as well.

Thanks alot for the comments!  :)

Like alot of people it seems, I have been working on the new Necromunda boxed game, I do like the what they've done with it... but i think when more gangs are out is when i'll get more into it.

First up is the start to my Goliath gang,

And next is the first (hopefully of many) hired guns for Necromunda Gor Half-Horn and i must say he was a pleasure to paint as the first Forgeworld model I have ever bought.

Thanks alot  :).

Next up is the start of my Orlock gang the Iron Reapers.

I went with abit more of a classic Orlock colour scheme from the old days.

Next up is a Necromundan bounty hunter with power sword and autogun.

She's a Hasslefree Andreah mini with a GW base repurposed to be a former House Escher Turned hired gun.

And lastly is Lord Deadalus of House Volkner of Galvia. He's going to be the pilot for my imperial knight when I finish it... which will be forever away at this rate:(.

He's a Reaper pathfinder Aric of Halvon mini with painted bionic eye and hand to give him that 40k vibe.

That nobleman looks great! I really like the subtle changes to 40k him up. The colour scheme looks good too.

Cool, how tall are those Orlocks compared to say the Cadin/Marauder fig.
Title: Re: Darathar's Tales Of GrimDarkness!!! - (New with Necromunda stuff)
Post by: Darathar on March 18, 2018, 02:22:20 AM
I thought they were bigger, but when you line them up they fit quite well.

plus the heads should easily fit into the Cadian torso if you want some rougher looking Imperial Guardsmen or Mechanics.

Nice job on the figures as well.

Title: Re: Darathar's Tales Of GrimDarkness!!! - (New with 40k civilians)
Post by: Darathar on April 07, 2018, 04:35:15 AM
Thanks Guys!  :)

Next up is some Grimdark civilians, just because I like gluing 40k bitz to fantasy figures for some reason  ;).

First civillian is a tavern owner in the Underhive of Necromunda because all my gangers need someone to pour their drinks!

He's a reaper 03859: Townsfolk - Cooper model with an imperial logo for his keg and a bionic eye for precision ale pouring.

Next up is a poor little abhuman beastman... he's a little down on his luck but I still like him.

He's off the Privateer Press Blindwater Brew Witch Doctor kit.

Next up will be a Knight Armiger squire and some more Necromunda stuff.
Thanks for reading  :)

Title: Re: Darathar's Tales Of GrimDarkness!!! - (New with Necromunda Dome Runner)
Post by: Darathar on April 08, 2018, 03:10:53 AM
Thanks mate  ;).

Next up is the first of alot of proxy models for "Hangers On" in Necromunda starting with a Dome Runner.

He's a Reaper Chronoscope: 50123: Space Hero model with a Gw Orlock Ganger head.

I imagine him as an old grizzled House Orlock ganger who gave up the life to move uphive and it didn't quite work out for him so he sells his knowledge of the underhive to anyone that will take him in.

Thanks for reading  :).

Fantastic pieces, Darathar! Very well done. If you're open to a franchise-neutral, multiverse Sci-Fi Skirmisher, all of your models would work beautifully for Starfall as well: https://elijahkellogg.wixsite.com/starfall.

All nice but that dome runner is particularly good.

I'm holding off for the Van Saar. Still not convinced to try the new Necromunda but I'm certain I can find uses for those figs.

Thanks alot guys I appreciate the kind words!  :).

Thanks Burma44 I downloaded Starfall it looks good, and a good way for me to play mantic Veer-myn (Space Skaven) vs the Imperium or the Inquistion.

Next up is a Knight Armiger Squire/Pilot

He's a Privateer Press Cygnar Journeyman Warcaster with that awful sword cut off and given a real weapon.

Next up is an old Necromunda Bounty hunter I did a few years back

He's a Reaper: 03307: Kalrix, Male Warrior with parts from the GW Tempestus Scions and cadian command and heavy weapons kits added.

Thanks for reading  :).

Of course! I just knew you'd love Starfall with all the sweet kit-bashing you do. And the new version drops in like two days, so you're checking it out just in time! Mixing Veer-myn with the Inquisition is exactly why Starfall exists. haha We've got a growing FB group too if you do the FB: https://www.facebook.com/groups/198523234074229/

My perilous quest to convert all fantasy miniatures to sci-fi continues!

Here is another Necromunda hired gun, this time Hive scum...

He's a Reaper Pathfinder 60026: The Scribbler with weapons from a Chaos Cultist.

Next is a npc Necromunda Guilder with a Xenos Monkey.

Thanks blacksoilbill! There's plenty more to come  :D.

So with the new Van Saar gang hitting shelves this week and the inevitable fact that i'm buying them, I decided that i better churn out my Orlocks as there my favourite gang.

So may I present my Iron Reaper Orlock gang:

And a group shot:

They took forever to paint so I'm sick of looking at them right now... but I can't wait to give them a go in the Underhive soon.

Thanks for reading  :)

Thanks alot guys! It's been a while now so I'll just put up everything 40k related i've been doing.

First up is a WIP shot of my Necromunda Cawdor gang I've just started:

I wasn't too excited about the standard heads as they weren't sinister culty enough for what i wanted for this gang to be so I changed them out for the ever so versatile Frostgrave Cultists set. They're all just about big enough to look right.

Next up is the start of a Primaris Deathwatch Kill Team:

They're the easy build ones out of the started sets with the left hand shoulder pad cut off.

And last is my ever expanding Death Guard army:

Thats all for now, next up will be some finished Cawdor, Deathwatch and maybe some more Reaper conversions since i just got a few more to "bless" with some bionics and other bitz.

Title: Re: Darathar's Tales Of GrimDarkness!!! - (New with Space Elf Bard)
Post by: Darathar on August 04, 2019, 09:27:56 AM
Thanks blacksoilbill!

So this project is slowly becoming less of a 40k project and more of a science fantasy galaxy inspired by 40k, a galaxy with less grimdark and abit more hope.

So I was wracking my brain over what to do next so I decided to make a space elf bard. With the elves ravaged by war over countless centuries their greatest champions have fought against the darkness time and time again so it is the bards that carry on their legacies.

I imagine after a busy day of fighting/ questing this elven bard is relaxing without armour and rocking out a tune for her comrades.

She's sitting on a log playing an electric lute for all to here, she's a reaper bard with scion tubing and IG cadian vox parts.

Cheers for reading have much more to come.

Cool collection, how sci-fi should be, dark hues, in my opinion.
