Title: New range of TYW from Russian manufacturer
Post by: Von Stroheim on December 29, 2017, 02:26:24 PM
From the photos on their Facebook page Avanpost are starting a Thirty Years War range

https://www.facebook.com/groups/avanpost.miniatures/photos/

I have some of their Napoleonics and they are some of the best detailed castings I have seen

I am in the UK and have ordered from them in the past no problems.

I've ordered just a few of the TYW figures. I can see that the sculpts are excellent, but I want to see how they look next to some of my existing figures before buying too heavily. I'm told they'll take at least a couple of weeks to arrive.

I want to order too, did you bought them via facebook?  Please make a comparison pic when they arrive!

No. I e-mailed them at avanpost.miniatures@gmail.com. They e-mailed me back a page of pictures of their figures. I e-mailed them what I wanted, they gave me a price and a Paypal account and I paid via Paypal.

What material are these figures made of?  They just look too smooth/clean for metal.  And what price for UK buyers?

Ingram: I ordered TYW figures and they're made of polyurethane resin. I think I've read somewhere that with the Napoleonics you have the option of metal or resin, but that may be wrong. I ordered some infantry and most were €1.70 but one was €1.85. P & p was €6.95.

My figures have arrived at our house this morning. I'll look at them a bit later. I placed the order on 30 December, which makes it 16 days to delivery. Considering how far away the figures came from, and that the Orthodox Christmas was in the intervening period, I'm very pleased by this. I've had a slower response from certain UK manufacturers.

I ordered mine on the 3rd of January. Be interesting to see how long they take to get to NZ.

Some of the new figures appearing on the facebook page are looking very nice.

Thank you, Curt, but all glory (or almost all :)) for the sculptor, Maxim, he's really Master.
We're always glad to have new orders.
Need to note - new figures, we show not so far ago, aren't available yet. We still need to finish some miniatures, and this shall be done during this week, then pack of new figures will go to production.

Very nice indeed.  Lovely poses, quite understated, which is nice for ranking up.  Love the horse that the Reiter is riding, very nicely proportioned.

Are you planning on some more active poses for cavalry, push of pike, firing musketeers? etc
Title: Re: New range of TYW from Russian manufacturer
Post by: Paul Richardson on January 17, 2018, 11:53:39 AM
I haven't commented on the figures I received because I intended to post a comparison shot showing them against other figures I have lying around. I can see, however, that I won't get round to doing that for a bit, so here are a few thoughts.

In my view the figures are superb. The sculpting is excellent and the detail on them is amazing. They're very delicate-looking, tall and slim, and I like the poses. In terms of size, they're not really exactly like anything else I normally buy. I don't have any Bicorne, Empress or Renegade infantry figures but my guess is that they may be similar height but much slimmer than either Bicorne or Renegade. The nearest match I can find at the moment is with a Perry WOTR metal figure I have lying around, which is taller and slightly differently proportioned from Perry ECW (the Perry ECW range was their first range for Perry Miniatures, and their sculpting style has seemingly moved on a bit over the years). I'll certainly be buying more of these figures. I really love them, but I haven't yet decided whether I'll mix the infantry in the same unit with any other makes.

Yes. In near future (in 2-3 weeks, I hope) new group of soldiers will be released. There will be: 3 pikemen in battle line (3 rows), 3 pikemen standing (can be used for 4-6 rows), two officers - standing with two pistols and walking with partizan, 2 musketeers firing, and 3 more mounted soldiers (standing) - 2 reiters and a dragoon.

Here's photos of upcoming miniatures (not all of mentioned above are ready yet) - hope they can be seen. If not - please tell me, I'll fix it

How delicate is the resin?
Title: Re: New range of TYW from Russian manufacturer
Post by: Avanpost studio on January 17, 2018, 05:46:49 PM
Close enough to hard plastic. Can easily be cut or filed if needed (but usually cast is clear enough and there's almost no any seams need to be removed). Thin elements (as musket stakes or swords) will bend before to be broken.
By the way, if such elements are bent when you get the figure - you may put it in hot water or use hot air to straighten it -just keep it for a couple of seconds in hot then it will straighten itself (or you'll need to help a little with hand or tweezers).

Those look great, I especially like the infantry officer with two pistols.

The older batch of photographs including the comparison with Warlord's Wallenstein figure can't be seen because Photobucket is awful. Can you repost them, please?

Tried to fix it, I can see it now. But if there's still a problem - please tell me!
Now we're working on the couple of musketeers in firing position, to complete the serie. As for this infantry officer with pistols - he's really impressive, agreed. But we'll correct him a little before production: pistols looks too thin, we'll 'inflate' them a little (but they still will be looking like real weapon, not wooden logs :) )
Title: Re: New range of TYW from Russian manufacturer
Post by: Paul Richardson on January 19, 2018, 11:48:43 AM
Here's my comparison shot. Sorry I'm such a poor photographer.

The figures are, from left to right, Foundry, Warlord Games, TAG, Avanpost, Perry and Bohemian Troops. The Warlord Games figure is a conversion but it's the only figure of theirs I had to hand and the converting hasn't altered the height of the figure. Both the TAG and Bohemian Troops figures are later ones in their ranges, which are taller than the earlier ones they produced. The TAG figure is one of my personal favourites.

Paul, as I can see, that officer' sword is bent a little. To fix it put the figure (or just the sword) into hot water (60-70 Celsium degrees) for a 2-4 seconds. This resin have some kind of memory and will straighten itself. Or, if there will be need, you may help it with fingers.

And thank a lot for this photo!

All you need to do to place an order is send me a message by e-mail (avanpost.miniatures@gmail.com) with prod.numbers of miniatures you want to purchase and amount of each position you want to buy. We (I mean 'Avanpost' studio :) )do accept Paypal payments. Ah, and ofcourse I need to know customer's address (or at least counriy) to add shipping cost.
I will calculate total sum of the order, and will send it to you to confirm.
Orders are sent by Russian post. According to my experience, it takes about 2 weeks to be delivered to UK or EU countries. After sending I'll give the tracking number to watch its movement. And in any case, I'm keeping an eye on every parcel until it received

I love these figures - just wish I was still building my TYW forces. I think they would match very well with Empress as they have a more natural slenderness than the standard stocky style of most wargame minis. They would sit well with any of the others by using the 'base-padding' method to bring the height of the shorter figures up - the comparison photos in the figure size comparison sticky in the P, M & F S forum show this in practise.
