Title: Limehouse - Rozzers! - page 59
Post by: OSHIROmodels on February 09, 2018, 09:12:46 AM
I’ve been sucked into a Gothic Horror project with the usual suspects and although vampires really aren’t my thing I’m tagging along mainly for the terrain aspect  ;)

I’ve got plenty of Victorian buildings in the catalogue with more to follow in the coming months but I felt it would be a good opportunity to go to town, as it were, on some decent London terrain.

The idea is to have a selection of 300mm square boards with various layouts on each. They will be modular but it won’t be apparent looking at the individual boards, there’s also going to be sewers underneath but more on that at a later date.

The first inspiration picture is the one below as I really like the mix of building materials and the layout.

So, with that as a basis it’s onto the first board. I’m not copying the photo, just using it for ideas. I’m also in two minds about a road surface. The types of road surface in London were quite varied, from your typical setts to tarmacadam to compacted earth and even hex shaped wooden setts using Australian wood (although these didn’t last long because they got slippy when wet and too many horses were breaking their legs on the slimy surface). I’m going to pop into the local art shop and see if they have any 2mm foam and if so I’ll do typical setts as then I can do 5mm pavements.

Only one picture for now but of course there will be more to follow  :)

cheers

James

It's looking great as always, Jim.

I wonder: the siding of the building to the left, are the horisontal boards cut individually or is it a profiled polystyrene sheet?

Thanks chaps  :)

I wonder: the siding of the building to the left, are the horisontal boards cut individually or is it a profiled polystyrene sheet?

The clapboard is 0.8m balsa wood but cut into strips by hand and then glued on with reckless abandon  ;)

Got some foam from Giles and have done a test; seems to do the job. I've also made some 25mm bases and these will be moulded and cast and put on the website in a week or so. I'm using some brass tube that's been shaped into a decent representation of a sett and it's just a case of pressing it in to the foam although I can't do that much at a time because it hurt my arthritic thumbs  lol

Here's some foam on a baseboard. The blue foam is too thick so I'll need to get some thinner stuff (3mm probably). There are a couple of gaps for sewer grates and I'll also make a hole for manhole cover. Obviously it'll look better once that awful green has been painted over  lol

Done the first section of road but I’m stopping now as it’s really buggered my thumb. I tried a
little jewlers hammer buts it’s not as accurate or quick. I’ve got three different sized jigs for the setts.

Gonna pop into town and see about some thicker foam for the pavements (3mm or so) otherwise I’ll have to stick an intermediary layer inbetween.

I remember one of those "Jack The Ripper Walks" several years ago, someone warned: "Watch out for the SLIME in the street", and other someone promptly replied: "Thanks, I got distracted watching the LIME on the HOUSE!"  lol

Thanks again, apart from Mark, who can get his coat  ;D

Finished the setts for this board and will hopefully carry on with the pavements tomorrow. The little round disc is a placeholder for a manhole cover which will be lasered acrylic.  The buildings on the left and in the back are only there to give an idea of the cramped feeling I'm going for. The discussion over this has led to having removable roofs, which isn't a problem on the lasered buildings bu the scratch built ones will need some remedial work.

Plenty more to go and I do need to loo at the layout for other boards.

Could've done but I want each tile to be individual and there's a good chance the road widths won't be the same across multiple boards (I'm also to impatient to wait for the process as I wanted to crack on with it whist the enthusiasm was still there  ;) ).

Please can you show a close up of the tool you used to make the cobbles?

Of course. Very simple squashed brass tube that's been sanded a bit.

Pleasure  :)

I can get a lot more variation in the relief using the foam. Indenting rocks, knuckles, scraps of blue foam etc and I'll probably do some sort of ramp on at least one of the boards and this stuff will fit to the contours quite nicely  :)

How many boards are needed for a proper game?

Hoping only four to make a 2x2 but we know how these things go  lol

Got some quick colour tests done for the bits done so far. Relatively happy with them although I think the London stock might need some more work.

Obviously there’s still a lot of details and detritus to add but the rugby’s on so I’m distracted  :)

Looking splendidly grim already  :)
Title: Re: Limehouse - first colour test
Post by: OSHIROmodels on February 11, 2018, 07:35:57 PM
Cheers Richard  :)

Got the pavement done for the house side and started adding details and detritus. I think a lot of the detritus could be left loose and gathered up at the end of a game (newspapers, wheels, boxes etc) but I need to add some horse manure and general dirt/shit.

I'm still drawing up the warehouse for the opposite side and I'll hopefully get this cut out this week. The intention for interiors is to keep them plain and simple so just wallpaper/painted surfaces but the warehouse will have catwalks for the two upper levels and some sort of ladder access.

Roofs still to do and I think there might be an option to have little angled bases that can sit on the roof apexes to allow for rooftop action although this might be a little dangerous for the figures  lol Lights have also been mentioned but we'll have to see about that one...

So you are using the brass tube as some kind of cobble stamp. Still seems pretty time consuming. Have you considered soldering several tubes next to each other to get an even more effective tool?

(The whole thing looks gorgeous, mind, I am just interested in how you could make the whole process more efficient).

The brass tube is a stamp and the foam takes it quite well. I thought about putting several together but the anal retard in me couldn't handle seeing the repeat pattern  lol

It doesn't take too long though and it's quite easy to stop in mid flow ad then pick it up again later. Most of the boards will ave about the same or even less of the setts so I'm not too bothered.

Make a reverse stamp and mould that in pewter?

The figures are a mix but mainly Foundry, the copper and merchant I've had for ages but had them rebased. Apologies for the slightly blurred photos.

I've added a lasered manhole cover to the road surface and although I've got a decent manure representation (see figure bases) I'm still being a pedant about putting it on. I suppose I'll start with a bit, see if I like it and if so I'll add more.

Here is the final building for this particular tile, a warehouse or tenement/poor house etc. Still the roof, limited internals and external details like drainpipes, steps etc but it' not far off. I'm also quite pleased with the London stock colour as it's a bit different from the terrace house. The space in the top left is for a projecting winch that'll be contained in a clapboard protrusion.

The large shouldered figures are from Foundry and are the newer ones that Tim Prowse did (I think). Some of them are very chunky and square and I'm debating whether or not to do them. The ones I've done so far are the best of the bunch.

That looks the business  :o :-*

In defence of the lamps, some of the buildings in the Lost London book have huuuuuuge wall lamps.

Maybe there's a market for 28mm wall lamps......  ::)

Well I like them! I remember there used to be some similar looking lamps on Edinburgh and they were actually massive.

I think the larger lamps look fine on a warehouse - some period examples have glass 3 or 4 times the size of a head.  ;)

Well, tile 1 is complete apart form the manure but I'll do that all in one go so the consistency looks the same.

The roofs are removable but the interiors aren't done yet but it's not that important at the moment. Now ot decide the layout for tile 2...

Right then, tile 2.

Got a couple of quick photos but will have better ones later in the week when there’s more substance to the tile.

I’ve gone for a mix of Georgian and Victorian this time. The blank space next to the arch will be a full scratch build and probably rendered with a couple of gables. The Georgian house will have a mansard (with projecting windows and tiled sides). The clear looking building will probably be changed for a slightly wider pub with an angled door in the corner.

Now there will be some areas that have overlapping windows and walls so I’m thinking of having some brick or rendered ‘blanking plates’ to fill the gaps where windows probably shouldn’t be.

Post by: Vagabond on March 04, 2018, 06:58:08 PM
I don't think there's anything I can say that hasn't already been said. Excellent buildings as always. I think the wooden clapboard is a fantastic piece of work and the rendered side of the same building also.
The roof slates look laser cut, are they yours or warbases and please don't say you cut them individually or someone needs to send for the men in white coats.

The window 'glass' in the wood building looks better than the brick one, but maybe if you are putting interiors in to the brick one that will change.

Do you envisage figures using the building interiors, I imagine it's a long way down, 3 floors looks to be about 10" presumably you will have individual levels that lift out? Sounds madness.

Lastly the cobble setts look way better than any commercial ones because you don't have join lines visible, even with duff thumbs. Thanks for showing the brass tools to create this, I bought some of the same foam to do the same thing but of course not got round to it.
How do you think it will stand up to your gamers leaning on it and creating additional indentations. Maybe chop the hands off the first one to do it and it's no longer a worry. :D :D
Excellent just excellent

I like the idea of the angled building corner. You could even have a third tile with an open backed yard going into the street/Alley corresponding with the pub rear that could either be used in conjunction with the pub tile or separately.

If that made any sense?

The tiles are from here (scroll to the bottom) http://www.oshiromodelterrain.co.uk/victorianbuildings.html (http://www.oshiromodelterrain.co.uk/victorianbuildings.html) . A few years ago I would've done them by hand but not anymore  ;)

Interiors will just be roof access and if the figure is in that space then it is assumed it will be in the house somewhere. Haven't tried it yet so we'll have to see, which leads onto the windows bit. For now I would like to detail the lower floors on some of the buildings just because so in the brick building case they will probably stay a they are.  The chaps I game with are gentle souls really and it's usually me who's the clumsy one  lol

If that made any sense?

Just about  ;)

Lovely miniatures to match superb terrain. So, not Norf London, but “Oop North” then?

They deserve a suitable battle cry:

“There’s nowt wrong wi owt what mithering clutterbucks don’t barley grummit”.

Well, I managed to get my gang sorted, Bilbbly's Bashers. A rough set of northern coves come down to the big smoke to cause a bit of a rumpus  :D

And here's them looking for a night out on the town  lol

Remarkably atmospheric. This really is some of your best work James and that is saying a lot. The detail on the buildings makes you want to gaze at it for ages.

Only just seen this!
How the bloody hell did I miss it until now?

Well worth it, though, when you get to gaze at so much at one time.
 :D

All looking wonderful, mate.
The buildings are top drawer, of course, and I am seriously impressed with the finished look of the clapboard, that is some good drybrushing skills there, that be.
 8) 8) 8)

I have to echo the other fella and say that I reckon them there Northern thugs look like some of your best work, bloody brilliant!
 :-* :-* :-*

Not that impressed with the streets, though.

It was fun, if a bit fiddly  :)

I was given this idea by the Silent Invader, some facades for the edge of the table. They’ll help to give the appearance of a full board without using all the available space. Just the one for now but there will be others.

It uses up the mistakes I’ve got from the terrace houses I produce. There will be return walls of about one to two inches but I’m unsure of whether to seal the back with black card or to leave it open and have ‘platforms’ for figures to be placed on.

Working on some viaduct sections at the moment but need a few more to span the table. I do know that starting a train will be a slippery slope that I don’t want to start sliding down yet  lol

Title: Re: Limehouse - Table edge facade wip page 13
Post by: OSHIROmodels on May 02, 2018, 05:55:56 AM
Possibly. The returns and rear will be scratch built but drawing them in and altering the original shouldn’t be a problem. The size might need to be looked at though to get optimal with the available material size.

That’s a stunning looking table that just gets better with every addition.

Low relief facades would be very useful, I’d definitely suggest some degree of ledge/wall division just to allow a (minimal) level of set decoration. Say just enough room to fit a bath tub and dither over wallpaper choices  :)

Facade is very good but I am not sure I would like using a lot of them, you will really struggle to get "line of sight" through your buildings as they are with out stuff round the edges.
I did a few for my pirate table and they made it difficult to see "line of sight" great for photo shoots though :D

I’ve got two sections of viaduct built but they need a bit of tweaking and pruning before I take photos so for now here are some wips of the second facade.

The Georgian frontage still needs to be completed and it’ll be done as rendered with medium fancy windows. The Victorian builds on either side however are just about done. Two shops and a normal house. I’ve got a load of drainpipe stock cut which will be sprayed but I still need to make the hopper heads.

The main idea is to have them interlocking so they don't come apart during play. Seems fine at the moment but could be doing with being a little bit looser. The rails and sleepers aren't done yet but I have plans for them which should ease assembly.

Please excuse the rushed, over exposed photos  lol

Here are the joint parts, positive and negative.

and here are the sections joined together.

And of course with a train  :)

And a quickly thrown together beauty shot
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/33/2619-210518160106.jpeg)

Obviously there's drybrushing, weathering and posters to add (and maybe some lamps under the arch) but I think I'll need to get a few more done first so there's at least four foots worth.

Ohhh! I like that a lot! :-*  very useful mate! Do you know the train has a funny shaped piece of coal that looks like a dice? ;)

Have you ever thought of doing sci fi viaduct sections? There seems to be a gap in the market for decent ones! All the mdf ones look like mdf! :? A man of your skills could do an amazing one, you know....for something like 2000ad! ;)

Well, it’s been decided that I’ll be putting on a Limehouse participation game for next years Salute (it was decided for me  lol). The basic layout is sorted and I’ll do a decent sketch of it soon enough but here is a basic start.

The idea is to have a narrow section of river at one end and a viaduct at the other with plenty of buildings and ‘stuff’ in between. They are limiting the tables sizes for trader games next year to 6x4/6x5 which means I’ll be able to a decently detailed board in time.

First off is planning the river edge with wharves, part of a bridge and a slipway. There should be plenty of ins and outs to draw the eye and as many levels as possible (which won’t be that many unfortunately).

The bridge is a mock up but the stanchions will be the ones I’ll be using and the frontage will hopefully just sit up against the boards relatively seamlessly. The buildings aren’t the ones that will be there in the final version but they will be on the board (somewhere).

There won’t be much else done on this for a little while, I just had to get a bit done tonight whilst the muse whacked me round the head  lol

Looking fantastic. Are you going to plaster the walls with flyposters for music hall shows and penny dreadfuls like they did on Ripper Street?

Just not too sure about the floating bathtub... looks very playable, but possibly a little comical alongside what I’m sure will be a wonderfully realistic looking set of wharves and buildings?

Will the lentil cobblestones be making a reappearance?  :)

Plenty of posters, yes. The ‘bathtub’ (gee, thanks  ::) lol)  is from the Mars project and won’t bethere in the day. It’s the only boat I have at the moment. I have the plans for a river barge and a coal barge and will endeavour to have realistic shipping there instead.

Possible lentils but will mainly be EPS foam setts  :)

What about doing the river ar low tide? Most of it could be mud that characters could go through at a reduced pace? You could have a boat shored up on its side too.

Thought about that and it’s a lot more work. There’s going to be a slipway at the other end of the river section and I’d like not to have it sticking out for a couple of feet  lol

Salute is looming and so it’s time to continue the work on Limehouse  :)

First off is a bit of warehouse detail. The parts are removable for ease of spraying/painting.

It’s clear acrylic for the time being but taken against a dark background to show it up a bit better.

The chain is model ship chain and it’s attached with bent brass rod that’s drilled in place.

Got a little bit of dockyard scatter done and will paint it tomorrow. They look large but are in scale. Some of the ropes and chains used in shipyards were bigger than these.

If you are ever in the area, Portsmouth dockyards are well worth a visit.
Not just those gates, but also:-
H.M.S. Victory; The Mary Rose; a recently restored WW1 'patrol boat; H.M.S. Warrior
(this one scared the French as it was the first British warship to have washing machines!);
several museums (both in the docks & within a few miles) Gift shops & eateries,
then a short boat/taxi ride to Gosport will get you to the Submarine museum.

So, some slipway progress. Just the entrance for now, still working on the side walls. I think I'll have some clear but dirty glazing above the brickwork; maybe 20mm or so before the roof starts to angle upwards. The doors slide as we might have need for it in normal games. Brick sheet supplies will hopefully be here tomorrow  :)

Fancy gates for horse-drawn carriages, and a wooden one designed for just pedestrians?

Very probably as the walls will be sectional.

If you are ever in the area, Portsmouth dockyards are well worth a visit.

Have been a few times and will no doubt go again as I haven't seen the Mary Rose out of 'continment'.

Painted the front and back of the front elevation. To make it easy to store I'll be magnetising the walls and possibly roof. I've got some white decals on order that I'll use for the lettering; hopefully it won't go wrong  o_o

All painted, sprays, speckles, inks, drybrushing and washes.

Got some weathering done on a section of dockside and put the two together (even though they won’t be together on the table).

It's a great series (although set earlier than what I'm doing) and there's another two in the pipeline apparently  8)

Yes, there was shit everywhere  lol Interesting to note that a lot of road surfaces were made from end on, hexed shaped Australian wood but it was swapped out for the more commonly known granite sets because when they got wet from rain, horse piss and excrement they got incredibly slippery and there was a serious problem with horses breaking their legs  :?

I won't be having that much shit everywhere but it will be visible  lol

Finished the walls on another warehouse today. The roof will be corrugated Iron/steel with roof lights.

Played around with a little setup and there’s also some shots of it on it’s own. Still debating on the actual playing surface and will probably go for a mix of fine textured paint and some sort of cobbles with the possibility of some flags around somewhere.

What are you doing with the interiors?

Ideally have details inside, realistically just have them blank but painted. The houses are intentioned just to the have the top floor accessible but with luck the players will stay outside  lol
Title: Re: Limehouse - Another warehouse wip - page 22
Post by: has.been on January 24, 2019, 10:45:19 AM
I have always favoured having floorplans on a side table.
That way the building doesn't have to come apart AND
you can vary the interior from game to game (e.g.
game one = one big room, but game two = several small rooms)
It keeps the games fresh & stops (some) gamesmanship, such as
the player who 'knows' the quickest route through a series of buildings
even thou they are playing a different character in a different town.

So, every good Gothic Horror table needs a cemetery and this one will be no different. Just a layout sketch for now but I’ll be starting it soon enough. The figure is on a 25mm base. Short walls with railings on top, tall columns, several mausoleums, some brambles and a few ruined railings to allow figures to pass through.

It’s a good idea but table space is limited at Salute this year. I’ll probably do something similar for private games though  :)

So, I’m happy with how things are going to be done with the previous elements and will get them cranked out over the coming weeks so now it’s onto some terraces that’ll be sat in the middle of the table.

Still quite a few details to do for this one (door knobs, posters, roofs, chimneys etc) and there will be others; the idea being that several of these short ‘runs’ will form an open square with hopefully plenty of character.

This thread is like an enjoyable version of Grand Designs, sans the irritating yuppy bastards who casually reveal they have gone £400,000 over budget on the endangered hardwood floors and throw cushions in the subterranean living space.

I reckon Jim should comission a 28mm Kevin McCloud figure to include for size reference in all shots. Ideal for WIP photos.

Bloody nice, as usual.

I really like to have big buildings on my gaming tables for the look of it, although I noticed that they are in fact somewhat difficult to use. Actually most rule systems allow a normal move of around 6" . I played a lot of games where miniatures were mostly running around buildings playing hide and seek without ever getting a LOS to an opponent. That made some rather boring games without much action and time running short in the end or no results at all, when there was a limited number of turns agreed on before the game.

Great building anyway! I wish I had it...

Interesting point. We’ve never had a problem with that so far although the tables we play on are quite small with only five/six figures per side. There can be quite a bit of melee when we play which negates the problem somewhat.

Just limit the move distance?  Moving in built up areas normally requires a bit of caution, combined with a brief violent dash across open roads.

Thanks  :) Yes, at some point soon I hope.

Finished the warehouse roof. Onto the slipway building next I think.

VERY nice!
Only a few reasons why I didn't make one like it:-
I would have to make a whole board full of similar (who ever heard of just one on its own?);
Not enough room to store half of London;
Lack of spare time, oh and, of course, a complete lack of skill.

Well done. I am very envious.

So, slipway walls are 90% done and I’ve sorted the compound walls for it as well. Debating on whether to have wrought iron gates or slightly fancy wooden ones  :?

Really enjoying the way this is progressing. What I especially like is they way your artistic side is developing and complimenting your training as an architectural model maker.
I've added a couple pictures ( although there 1950's its being going on for as long as there's been docks.) As just a musing on a detailing that can take you figures down to the water level in an intersting way. Its locally called 'Oss wash. Where the bargies and dockers use to wash ther horses.
Mark.

Yep. Training is only half the battle. There are some things you just can’t teach. You’ve either got it or you haven’t.
He’s definitely coming on. Still got a way to go on the artistic side, but you have to remember he’s only a youngster.

Got the bulk of a corner plot done for a terrace section. Windows to be lasered and slotted in after with suitable posters etc. The mansard also needs to be done and then a drain pipe and that should be just about it for this one.

Although I might put a street lamp protruding from the corner over where the doors going to go.

Google images for suitable ones, scaled in cad then printed out and stuck on. Where it says ‘Butchers’ and ‘Bakers’ that was done in Rhino to get the arc of the lettering.

So many questions  lol

Table is around 4x4 for the game (it needs to be relatively crowded).
I have, for now.
Not yet but I'll be hoping to sort something out later next week when I start to put it all together.
Got a viaduct to finish off, a church and bridge to build and finish off facades and buildings that I already have (not much then  lol)

And of course plenty of pictures. However I've no doubt plenty will turn up in magazines.

Belated thanks again chaps  :)

Still going at this project and the newest addition is a smallish single property that would possibly pass as a pub. Still needs door details, a sign or two and probably a rendered chimney but it’s getting late  lol

Everything is made from card apart from the windows and doors which are lasered acrylic.

Got another build underway and as promised here are some wip shots.

It’s a Chinese laundry and the signs, washing lines and tubs that will be added will help convey that.

The two Georgian facades are card and the other sides are styrene brick sheet. There will be a low pitched roof on top of the Georgian part and of course plenty of details to bring it up to the level of the others.

The ‘yard’ is separate and the tubs and washing lines will probably be separate also to allow it to be used for other purposes. It’ll have some simple wooden doors on it also.

Looking very nice and thanks for the Wips.  May I ask, with regard to the card frontage, is it a single piece of card inscribed or separate card pieces for each ‘stone block’?

No running water, rats or anything as I’m not doing sewers  ;D

May I ask, with regard to the card frontage, is it a single piece of card inscribed or separate card pieces for each ‘stone block’?

It’s a single piece with lasered score lines. I thought about doing it in styrene and scoring by hand but that would mean removing the burs and I had a bit of space left on the sheet of card so did it this way.

Manhole covers lead to sewers.  I think this is literally a slippery slope to getting some really nice resin sewers.

Thanks for that. I am contemplating creating a similar effect across some MDF buildings. Lacking the laser I might go for cut out card pieces from a computer design.

Thanks again fellas  :)

Laundry is done. The horizontal strips of wood in the ‘yard’ will be strung with string for games to represent washing lines. I’ll probably do some clothes but not today. I felt this was a better option as the yard can still be used for other purposes.

That works well as a composition. I do really like the muted colours. Sheets on the line would finish off nicely, but as you say, they're not necessary to get the building on the table.

Handsome. I’d add the washing lines personally (as well as the window sills;)) It will give the building more of a definite character. And maybe a broken down old giant washtub in the yard.

Ok, just for you  ::)

A simple corner build done but it’ll need windows, doors and shutters when I get back (the blank areas above the sills are where the shutters will go). I might also do a brass railing for the stairs if I can get my soldering iron sorted. I think I’ll do a sign or two protruding from the walls as well and it’ll definitely have a couple of manky posters  :)

Cheeky double post so this isn’t lost at the bottom of a page  :)

Painted a Hackney carriage for me (there’s a commissioned Mariah to show tomorrow).

It’s a bit rushed in places as I just wanted it done and out the way.

Excellent- was it fun to assemble?

Not as bad as the four wheeled ones (the Mariah was a sod but more on that later). The only odd decision was sculpting passengers then filling in around them so they are obscured. I understand the thought behind it but a better choice would’ve been to have a separate little plug in maybe?

Black Mariah next. This one had a wonky bottom that needed filling and straightening and then the details along the sides adding again towards the bottom. It's done though and they will look good on the table top.

To which I immediately thought of a scene from a B&W old west movie, where settlers in a variety of contraptions are lined up for a race west to claim plots of land. I’ve no idea what the movie was called.

Not much time for personal projects at the moment but I’ve been able to start a customs house for the Thames.

It’ll have a projecting balcony that’ll sit on the retaining wall of the Thames but it’ll also be removable so the house itself can go elsewhere. I’ll put either a ladder down or a set of rickety steps down to a lower platform. Standard London stock for the bricks and I think a dirty white for the clapboard. Not entirely sure about the clapboard for this, I’d prefer something a tiny bit larger but we’ll see what it looks like when painted.

The roof details will go on after painting along with the balcony etc.

I’ve also painted some figures suitable for some sewer crawls. Foundry, Highgate and old Citadel.

I’m not firing on all cylinders so my typing isn’t making much sense lol

I meant that the section of the Thames I built is in the garage and I’m not going to faff around getting it out until I feel better.

The custom house will sit on the edge of the retaining wall and will have a balcony/ladders etc for river access. It’ll be kept separate though so the building can be placed elsewhere.

Got a couple of additions to the project. A rather large wolf (were or otherwise) and the Spoon Lane Boxing ring. The ring was made form balsa, sprayed white and weathered appropriately and the wolf is from GW (he's huge lol)

I do need to paint a whole load more civvies though as it's looking a bit sparse at the moment  lol

Primer grey spray, inked with GW brown ink then given a drybrush of a slightly lighter grey. The horseshit et al is a couple of different fine flocks with some short cut bristles mixed in.

Still researching the Opium den so it’ll be a while yet  :)

In a few days I’m going to host a little ‘play via text’ game. I don’t have the set up for a live remote game so this will (hopefully) be the next best thing.

There will be four gangs for this and they are being stated up by their players at the moment. I’ll be setting up the board in the next day or so then the action can begin  :D

Teamwork has been suggested but it will not be frowned upon if ignored  >:D

Dr De’Ath has the Count

I'll be posting once each turn once it's over with a brief synopsis of what's happened. The first turn will be fairly dull as the team make their initial moves so I'll do turns one and two together. The players have had briefings and I'll post these for all to see once the game is over.

It will be a long haul as it's not live.

The table layout and initial player starting positions (can't do a 4x4 for a long term set up as I need the space lol)

And the teams set up and ready to go, giving a quick pose for the camera before setting forth  :D

I have an embarrassing confession to make; I've lost the word document that had the game written on it  :'(

Never fear though as another remote game will be happening in the very near future and it will be fully documented  :)

In the meantime, I've finished off anther building base that has been languishing for months in a 3/4 state. It's been made from scraps from the catalogue and will sit on the table edge. I do intend to make another building that backs onto it but haven't decided what form it should take.

GW paints and their black ink.

Yeah. The first one I did was a bit too bright so I knocked it back a bit.
