Diving deeper into painter larger scale figures I've started another Miniart kit. This one is a 1/16 scale French Musketeer. The kit is horrible like the knight I put together a few weeks ago but this was a gift from my wife and daughter for Christmas so I feel obligated to build it and paint it.

He's looking like the Cardinal's Gaurd leader, from the first big fight, in Richard Lester's " The Three Musketeers"

You are on to something there. I think I will have to follow that line for the rest of the painting of this figure.

Nice start.
I feel your pain re MiniArt kits. They do some interesting 1/72 kits of buildings but they are a royal pain to build. If only they had engineered them with some form of positive alignment. I binned the house I started and am using it as a source of spare parts. On a whim I bought their fortress kit and I can’t say I’m looking forward to it.

That was exactly what I thought when I first saw him. :)

This kit was bad to assemble but it wasn't nearly as bad as the knight I did a few months ago. That was horrible.

Here he is:

LOL!!! Thanks for that!

Some disappointing news about this project. It's coming apart at the seams. Literally! So I was getting ready to put the next layer of paint onto the Musketeer when I noticed that his sword arm had started to separate. As I looked around the model some more I noticed most of the seams that were filled with putty had separated and the putty was gone. I primed the figure and thought it would have sealed it and protected the joints. The only conclusion I can come up with is that solvent I was using to thin the oil paints ate away at the putty.
