Rocket engines blaze to life. Lasers light up the formless void. Galactic Empires clash. A lone hero rises up to fight for the resistance.
Welcome to the world of Fistful of Lead: Galactic Heroes!
In Galactic Heroes, or GH for short, you’ll take on the role of a Hero or Villain, leading a scruffy pirate crew looking for adventure, or maybe a troop of faceless soldiers of the Empire in search of bringing order to the galaxy. It’s really up to you!
Like all the Fistful of Lead games, you’ll only need 5 or 6 miniatures per player. You can play 1-on-1 games or larger skirmishes with up to 6 or 8 players. This book contains all the information you need to play a game, including rules for building your forces and how to set up the table for different scenarios. Most players will pick up the game mechanics quickly, even people who haven’t played a wargame before. If you’ve played Fistful of Lead before, a lot of this will be familiar.
Galactic Heroes allows you to play a small scale wargame in the far flung future, a galaxy, far, far away, a grim, dark future 40,000 years from now, or a certain Red Planet where swords and rayguns reign supreme. Whatever YOU think Sci-Fi looks like, from your favorite Space Opera to gritty Pulp epic.

Not going to miss this one! Great news!
-
Glad someone thinks so!
-
Definitely interested in this.
-
Me too :D
-
Bring it on!
-
I'm very much looking forward to this. In fact my gaming group is going to play some Fist Full of Lead tomorrow.
-
When doesn't it go live? I searched for it but couldn't find it.

Just a quick query: if I try and add the pdf only it automatically adds $15 extra for uk shipping. As I only want the pdf the shipping costs will push the total above the customs threshold for tax and handling fees (a minimum of $11 just for handling). Is there any way to just get a PDF and not receive any of the non-digital items? Basically a digital only pledge, I suppose.
-
No space pirate badge for those of us with galactic scale larceny in our hearts? lol
I jest, don't sic the Star Marshals on me.
Where does this ship from, though? I couldn't find it mentioned on the Kickstarter though perhaps I'm just displaying my
shameful lack of knowledge regarding the FoL system.

Another request for that from the UK please? Maybe if such an option were available it could include a pdf of the cards too?
-
I have a question too: Space Ranger pledge gets a printed book + PDF, $25 like the Bounty Hunter level, tokens $5, and cards $20. $50 of stuff for $65 and then a charge for shipping?
-
I hasn't even been 24 hours and we're almost halfway funded!
Thanks everyone!
As with any launch, we've got a few complications. Some people have asked about the digital only pledge and the shipping costs that KS wants to add. The shipping is there for the physical FREEBIE items unlocked during the campaign, like the dice and badge you've just unlocked. If you just don't want those things, and only want what I can send you digitally, I can refund your shipping at the end. Unfortunately KS doesn't let me amend any prices once we've started.
One another note, if I'm not immediately responsive to your questions this weekend, I apologize in advance. Wiley Games is headed to Oklahoma City in a few hours to attend TwisterCon. I will post pictures and hopefully some video of an advance game of Galactic Heroes. If you're anyone near OKC this weekend, stop on by and play.
We have a UK distributor for Wiley Games product who'll I'm sure will reveal himself very soon. Unfortunately at the time of launch.
Fiona: Wiley Games is located in the Queen City of the Plains, home of Harry S Truman, Independence, Missouri. There have been lots of recent posts on Fistful of Lead if you do a search here. I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying the recent Limehouse build in the Gothic Horror section will using FfoL for their game mechanic. And do Space Pirates really want a badge?
Asbestos: The addition of the extra bits means a bigger box, which means I went a tier in shipping costs. I have to take into account that we will actually meet our funding which means a bunch of free stuff that adds weight.

+1 (or is it +2)
-
Thanks for the response Jaye. I'm fine with getting the postage refunded. I'll most likely be picking up a hard copy from your UK distributor once that's all sorted.

That'll be me :D
I'll have stock of the normal goods for Salute but I'll do a proper announcement closer to the time :)

Answers much appreciated, thank you. And don't worry about that badge, it was just a joke. I'll simply steal one off a Star Marshal... ;)
Have fun at TwisterCon!
-
Best of luck with this....
Are rules for robots and aliens included?

Me too, although I may just wait for the physical copy as I do prefer that to digital.
-
Would this ruleset be suitable for those wishing to explore the Final Frontier? ;)
-

Like the sound of that, will the UK distributor carry all the FfoL products?
-
I will :)
Proper announcement tomorrow.
-
I for one am certainly interested in a hard copy (from a UK distributor)
-
New Science Officer level added. Digital only so no worries about shipping.
Unfortunately, if you don't pledge you'll have to wait til September!
We're 3/4 of the way there.
Here's the action from this weekend:

I like the sound of these rules. I've not heard of Fistful of Lead before so I might check them out. I will be sure to look out for them at the Oshiro stand at Salute.
What sort of vehicles and alien races will the rules cover or do you design your own?
-
Lost Egg,
GH is specifically designed to use whatever miniatures you have. The Codex Galactica will have quite a few samples of how you can use some main stream minis with our rules. Check out the bloggoverse or this very forum for some positive reviews of the original Fistful of Lead.

Thanks for putting up the digital pledge Jaye, I've backed.

Thanks Baron, I found a good review on Meeples & Miniatures which sounded good so I grabbed a pdf copy to pour through later.
-
Excellent. After a decade, it seems to be catching on!

Peter, shall I put this on your wants list for Salute?
-
We won't be shipping GH until September, so it won't be this year's Salute.
-
Checked out the Fistful of Lead: Reloaded reviews and some questions for this game. How much scope is there to customise members of your team? IE Could one figure be better at hand to hand combat than another? Are there differences between different species eg Wookie vs an Ewok? Is there scope for energy weapons in this ruleset? PSI powers?
Also, liking the look of those cards, is there a Europe friendly distributor for the kickstarter?
-
Nozza,
I assume you're asking on the scope of GH? Plenty. Lots of traits you can add to individuals to make different people, aliens, bots. The Codex will have some canned arch types for you to go from, or make your own.
Tons of weapons. You can make as simple or layered as you want. Thursday night I'm running an 8 player game that's more of a near-future game. Most of the troops will be similar, but at TwisterCon each mini had something different.
Growth, my Chewy type guy is "Large", easier to hit but can take more, and "Strong" to deal extra damage in Close Combat.
No Distributor for KS as of now. Even if I had the stuff for my new partner Oshiro in the UK, I still have to pay to ship it there. This has been the problem all along.
-
Nozza,
I assume you're asking on the scope of GH?
Yes, that was my GH question. Apologies for not making it clearer. Thanks for your answers.
-
We are funded. Thanks to everyone who helped out. Now, let's see where we can take this.

Got a chance to talk with the Veteran Wargamer about all things Galactic Heroes and Fistful of Lead.

Congrats Baron! :D I'm looking forward to getting my copy in a few months time.
I look forward to listening to the podcast later.
Out of interest do you have any plans for a fantasy variant?
-
Soon many variants to try. My first thing to tackle is a Core book that incapsulates everything we've done so far. Reloaded came out 2 years ago, which was a rewrite of an older variant. We've added so much since then. I'd like to offer a basic tool kit that people can use to build on to.
-
Sounds good to me. I've been reading the FfoL rulebook and it sounds right up my street, fast and fun, detailed but not bogged down; that is one damn difficult line to tread and I think you've done it well. You know its a good ruleset if your imagination kicks in with a hundred ideas of what to use it for.

Commander Carnage is so on board, he's been trying to talk several of us to join in. Not without success...
He's probably going to be upset with me mentioning it, but he's trying to work up a scenario for the original rules for Recruits. I won't go into details, but, at a recent test, my usual vague sense of tactics were SO overwhelmed by my unusual hot dice at JUST the right moments, he's thinking he may need to make adjustments.
Now, don't be pestering him about it yet... ;)
So, consider this my usual nudge to try and get to see you in the fall. lol

Always at RECRUITs since Day 1. I've known the organizers for years. I used to do the art for the shirts and fliers before Wiley Global Conglomerate became too much for me to do both. Let me know if you need help or giveaways for the game. I'll be there selling GH and all our other stuff, plus running games.

Here's some play through

You Tube says the videos no longer available still. :( That seems very odd, especially as its still not showing after the 2nd attempt.
-
Seems to work now
-
Yep spot on thanks. :D

I understand you're already in conversation with him.
By the way, I'm one of the Gauntlet Games crew, if I need to remind, though now under the banner of the Randistan Gaming Society.
