Title: Sabbot bases for Italian Wars DBA
Post by: DonVoss on March 12, 2018, 07:25:28 PM
Okay, perhaps not the funkiest thread title in the world....:)

I am going to base some of my old Italian Wars stuff for DBA.
Here in germany is a small but eleborate gaming group wich bases its 28mm DBA stuff on deeper bases, so I will follow along.
Looks pretty convincing to me....:)

I will receycle some of my old stuff and paint just some minis here and there...

I started today with the generals base.
(So the general is newly painted).

And here how the sabbot bases work.

And the next sabbot base for more knights.
I go with the condotta list and need lots of knight bases...
...if I hate something its painting horses....:D

Don, who makes the condottieri commander (Nicolo de Tolentino, from the painting of the battle of San Romano ?  although he certainly would do for Francesco Sforza) and the unpainted knight with warhammer ?

Nicolo is from the Perrys, the Hamme guy is from a foundry blister....;)

Don

Lovely work and looks convincing to me as well.

I do the same thing with some of my HotT elements as well.

Cheers,
Barry

They look great  :)

Is the figure in the front a bit redundant though as he can only be used with these bases?

The crossbowmen need a little overhaul...I think. 3-4 Years old.

Lovely - they aren't just units, they are little vignettes.

Okay, after a few eeks at the north west frontier I am back in the Italian Wars.
This tiome I had to build a HORDE....;)

In the description they should be peasents...I took a more religious aproach....:)

Wow, they look really good. The sabots for the cavalry are very subtle, I didn't spot that the rear two horses were separate.

At least in the Italian Wars you have plenty of armour on the horses, so not much horse flesh to paint.

Got it from a brick and mortar hobby store. No name product, sorry.

Its called "Krippenfiguren 20mm"
