Thanks for persevering and figuring out the problem. So nice to see the others. They're all nice, but the genestealer cult look especially good - love the colour choices there.

As soon as I saw her (and the others) in the previews a month or so back I felt like doing a GSC army - which would be ridiculous, as I have so many others already on the go... but was thinking surely I could use a few of them as... something else. Brickus Dickus was just a regular juve running with a Goliath gang when a krak grenade buried him in a long lost dome, taking stock of his surroundings he noted it looks a lot like a temple but etched with weird symbols that hurt his (rather dumb) head. Doing his best to ignore the head hurting symbols and iconography he made his way into the temple and discovered a suit of armor, armor that looked a lot like wht he saw on images of those Space Marine chaps. He hummed lightly to himself and figured "ere yah know wot, i'd look right dapper in that!" and proceeded to don it. Once he had he was overcome with an urge to make a hell of a lot of noise. Luckily right next toe armor was a sonic bolter combi weapon. Now Brickus Dickus wanders the Underhive unleashing sonic mayhem wherever he goes...be that blowing gangers apart or just doing awesome solo guitar riffs in dive bars, you do not want to mess with Brickus.

Thanks mate, I still update stuff on the postapoc forum, just the Necromunda project has taken over, I get a gang finished and suddenly there's new bounty hunters or hanger-on's, then I finish them and think "oh those killteam chaps would look good in Necro" finish them just as another gang is released.... o_o

I just noticed my first Chaos gang uses Thaetos 23-2 as its rogue psyker, when I painted him up the model wasn't a named character. Anyhow, painted up a replacement.

Captured and sold to slavers, Crunkus the Goliath was modified for work in the deep slag mines. The modifications were done while he was awake and unsedated, the pain almost sending him insane. After two years in the mines he escaped and now seeks his revenge on those that sold him in the first place.

I Love this guy (but I am no fond of the shinny base - IMHO he would look better on dirty muted base with some rust).

Jack the Ammo Jack, the heavily armed weapons tinkerer is more than happy to service a gangs weapons and supply them with ammo as long as they can pay and treat him with respect, failing to do either will result in having an argument with Betsy his pet bolter.

While its not a common occurrence for an Inquisitor to travel beyond the walls of Hive City, that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Such individuals would more than likely hide their affiliation and purpose, using secrecy and disinformation to hunt their prey. While others are more than happy to kick down doors while wearing a big hat off office and mighty power armor, putting "heretics" to the question in their hunt (probably ensuring a number of their targets get wind and leg it.)

The No Tell Motel, an old Hab Block that used to house travelers that would make their way Rustbottom Cavern, though in recent times the Great Khans have taken it over as a gang hideout.

That motel needs some more detailing and weathering to house your wonderful minis, it looks a bit flat in its current state.

Well thats the issue, its just nothing but flat surfaces, so my usual dry brushing and what not just doesn't work. First time working with MDF, not really a fan.

You could try sponging/stippling to give it a bit of 'texture'... it is a fairly easy way to add weathering to flat surfaces :) . If you mix in a few greens and browns you can get some nice 'lichen' looks too :) .

I agree that stippling/sponging is a good way to gain "texture", but I'd recommend adding card/foam to make it less flat, some greeblies from your bits box, using soldering wire as, well wire and so on.
That is one way of salvaging mdf kits. I can show examples from my builds if you want.

First of all, some truly wonderful brushwork on the miniatures in this thread :o.
I have 'consciously avoided' GW/40K for all my life up until now, when I saw the Delaque gang and though 'MUST have'. I know bugger all about the universe but felt I had to get some information and ideas. So who knows, maybe I will also dip my toes into Necromunda in the near future!!! Thanks for the inspiration :).

Your welcome. The thing with Necromunda is, though its set in the 40K universe, there are no space marines, no aliens really, no epic world ending events, just gangs of human scum fighting over centuries worth of scrap, filth and junk, basically it is Mad Max on steroids that have taken steroids laced with more steroids.

A Magos Biologis (who has since vanished) claimed these creatures were in fact some form of Xenos. Enforcers are keen to point out that there are no unauthorized Xenos on Necromunda, and anyone saying otherwise should report for immediate judgement.

Lovely. Funny coincidence too, I stumbled over the bits for an uncompleted conversion (from 1999 IIRC) to turn a plastic marine into a shuriken catapult armed xeno-weapon specialist. Homage to the old RT era metal fig that had one, of course - although shurikats were hell on wheels back then, not the sad things they've been since 3rd ed.

What size base did you use for the Rat King there? I know AoS saddles him with a cavalry base to make room for his trailing bits, which looks very out of place on an infantry fig. How tall is he compared to standard gangers? All the new vamp sculpts I've seen were gigantic, closer to 35mm.

Yeah, the stock base is a 60mm oval. He is a tall boy, isn't he? I suppose 40K humanity does see more variation than we do today due to everything from genetic engineering in the past to polluted environments full of mutagens to warpspace influence, so not unreasonable for a mutated nobleman to be that tall next to the average prole.

The one I used came from the Sisters box set from 2019, so not sure what the boxed kit is like, but basically its two body half's with arms already attached with a choice of faces, that's it. GW doesn't really go in for a lot of choices these days.

Interesting, I didn't realize there was a push-fit kit of those. Looking at the sprue on the GW store it looks like they stuck with the two-part bodies (at least on 80% of the figs) but the arms and weapons are separate and probably somewhat cross-compatible. I count what look to be twenty flail-bits on a sprue with five bodies, so plenty of leftovers.
FWIW, their ad blurb for the kit includes:
Each Arco-flagellant is ‘armed’ with a pair arco-flails (well, they've been grafted on, so they have no choice really!). There are two different head, left arm and right arm options for each body, including a specific combination enabling you to make the classic Arco-flagellant, Damien 1427.
Not up there with many of the older super-modular kits, but not terrible for adding to the bits box either. I do wish they'd stop doing the "two identical sprues in the same box" thing less often, something Necromunda and Bloodbowl have both been saddled with.

I'd prefer a return to the old legs/torso/arm/head divides myself, and I'll concede it would fix my main complaint on the duplicate sprue thing - that being everyone having five monopose options to choose from, some of which just do not work well with certain arm/weapon configurations. As for spares, I like a full bits box as much as teh next guy but my main gange is Van Saar and their spares aren't really all that useful compared to a lot of GW kits due to the screwy "glue front of gun to lower arm holding trigger and stock" design. They aren't useless, but compared to having some complete guns to glue to a gripping hand or slung on a body they're harder to kitbash with.
How'd you like the ork terrain they just showed off for Kill Team? Regardless of the engrave ork glyphs on them I can't help but think those things will wind up on many a Necromunda table, either with conversions to make them more "Imperial wreckage" or just as a battle in a hive or ash waste settlement that's had a greenskin problem.

Ah, lovely - Orlocks painted in the old starter box colour scheme! Weirdly, they got a lighter scheme with cream bandanas and loincloths for the "official" studio scheme, even though I don't think any of the other gangs ever got more than one studio paintjob. No idea why, by I always liked the accent the red brings... (I'm a true child of the Red Period I suppose! lol)

The Necromunda plastics are pretty big generally. In fact, they are big next to other unarmoured 40k humans, and most gangs have their own slight tweaks to proportions too. So whilst the Stargrave/Wargames Atlantic figures scale quite well with many 40k humans (4E plastic Cadians perhaps notwithstanding), they are small compared to Necromunda.
Were I feeling uncharitable, I would say the Necromunda sizing and proportions (and each House seeming to have a completely unique design of common Imperial weapons) was deliberate to prevent you from making seamless conversions and weapon swaps with other figures, in a forced effort to make you buy more kits/upgrades. However, if I assumed a more generous stance, it could also be said that it was a deliberate creative design choice to further enhance and exaggerate in a visually-representative manner the classic traits one associates with each of the Houses. Also... both things could be true at the same time! ;)
If it helps, the Stargrave/Wargames Atlantic figures do scale well with the classic Necromunda figures, including the starter box plastics, and the earlier Confrontation range too. And, as a complete aside, the Mantic Veer-Myn scale really well with the new Necromunda plastics, as they too are a bit on the larger side (not to mention that the lowest regions of the Sump seem like a perfect place to find space-Skaven!) :)

Marshall Lieutenant Colonel Alexander von Greim formerly of the 937th Necromunda (also known as the Hab Block 457D Regulars) and his bodyguard have arrived in Rotgut Landing to advise the Great Khan's on military tactics. These tactics however involve a bayonet charge across mine fields, so the Khan's have posted him in well appointed quarters in the Landing and have ignored his advice.

A sump worm, one of the newest exhibits of The Gisaal Menagerie. This sump horror, possibly a mutation from all the chemicals and waste dumped into the sump (or caused by some warp sorcery) has evolved to feature the "face" of its primary prey, unsuspecting hivers, which it uses to lure its prey towards the polluted sump waters before it strikes.

Work in progress of Hab Block from TTCombat, to be honest, this was a nightmare kit to work with, pieces to large, or warped, parts snapping when trying to punch them out. I'd like to say I'm happy its finished, but this is just the roof section of the first building...argh!

Inquisitorial warband led by Inquisitor Myrtle Gnaerrand of the Ordos Xenos. Having previously purged a Genestealer cult on the penal world of Tartarus, she has followed a number of shipping manifests that has led her to Rotgut Landing on Necromunda.
Accompanying the Inquisitor is Katherissa Mirulata of the Silent Sisterhood, a blank is a useful tool in any arsenal. Elam Kaag, a former convict of the penal world who fell into the Inquisitors service when he assisted her in gunning down an aberrant. Enforcer Clovis Tharpe, who fell into Gnaerrand's service while investigating corruption within his precinct. And finally Corporal Hector van Huss, last survivor of the 7th Tartarus PDF 4th Company, 2nd Platoon after they were gutted by Genestealers in the tunnels under the penal hive. He carries his former sergeants laspistol, a reclaimed power pickaxe taking form a cultist, and a shotgun, that he likes to keep handy for close encounters.

Rotgut Landing, like many settlements in the Hive has a need for establishments of pleasure, be they the Skumm Bar for booze and drugs, to the Kombat Zone for mortal combat, then there is Madame Butterflys Cat House, which enjoys the protection of the local Escher girls. The local Ministorum Priest has been assured that it is a simple bath house with a rather large bar, nothing of any real ill repute goes on there at all....

With Rotgut Landing being a (admittedly rather small) port settlement for the unloading of goods and items to and from the Eye of Selene (the vast orbital space station/fortress/port that protects Necromunda) its not uncommon to see naval personnel, both Imperial Navy and Rogue Trader "on leave" in the Landing. Altercations often happen with the crew's and the denizens of Rotgut, with quite a few citizens getting a chest full of riot rounds and then waking up in the hold of a transport on thier way to a new life of serfdom of an interstellar craft.

Got a mate from work to pick me one up from his local store as he is pal's with the manager at his store. My local store wont give me the free miniatures as he only gives them to "new" customers.

Lursa and B'Etor, sisters of a minor noble house, who having failed in a coup attempt, have fled to Rotgut Landing to attempt to raise forces to seize their house. Armed with esoteric weapons and armor, they pose a significant threat to the dwellers of the underhive.

PDF Trooper Leona Ozaki of the 931st Necromunda PDF Infantry Regiment, assigned to the 2nd Wall Gate separating Rotgut Landing and the rest of the underhive from Hive City proper. Her job is to check the credentials of those entering and leaving the Landing and shooting those who dont have the proper credentials, all in all a pretty boring job.

And finally Nathael the Penitent, a wretch whose features are hidden under the grilled mask. The only clues to his past is a ruined Imperial Naval jacket, which might explain why he wields a bolt pistol.

The deposed noble population of Rotgut Landing keeps increasing. The former noblewoman with the golden mask goes simply by the moniker of Lady Destiny, her real identity shrouded in mystery. She has taken up residence Upper Dock Alpha 3, a disused cargo station. Accompanied by Cressida, a rather formidable bounty hunter who the Lady has taken on as a retainer.

Strange reports have come in from the tunnels in Sector 49 Beta 3 Subsection Brown, reports of ghostly apparition's appearing to resemble the Emperor's faithful Sisters of Battle. A claim quickly refuted by local preachers as heresy, but the area above the tunnels did once a convent that was lost in a huge hivequake sometime during M36.
