Second game of Saga! This time we decided to use the Anglo-Saxon battleboard instead the Anglo-Danes. It was commanded -again- by my son, Miguel. I commanded the Vikings. It was a 6 points game, using the scenario in the main rules -Clash of Warlords- but in this ocassion with the table divided in two deployment areas, diagonally.
Anglo-Saxons were 3 Hearthguards (12 figures), 2 Warriors (16 figures) and 1 Levy (12 figures) Total: 41 miniatures, with the Warlord

Vikings were 2 Heartguards (8 figures) 3 Warriors (24 figures) and 1 Levy with bows (12 figures) Total: 45 miniatures, with the Warlord.

The game started pretty well for the Vikings. The Anglo-Saxons attacked with their Levies in first line, while their Heartguards tried to flank the Vikings right wing. However, the line of archers in the center of the Viking deployment held firm and gave the Saxon Levies a good trashing.

Meanwhile, the left hook of the Saxon attack also met with troubles, when an overenthusiastic Hearthguard unit found itself isolated against two Viking Warrior units, that made short work of it thanks an opportune use of the Ragnarok ability.
In the Saxon right, the Viking Hirdmen also gave a good trashing to a Saxon warrior unit, killing 6. At that moment, looked like if the Vikings would give the Saxons a fenomenal beating... nothing farther from what transpired!
The Anglo-Saxon Warlord decided that enough was enough, and lead a brutal charge against the Viking lines that cost the life of my Viking Warlord -again!-, slain in single combat, and the loss of 6 warriors killed by the berserk fury of the Anglo-Saxon warlord.

In the meanwhile the rest of the Saxon army contained and caused casualties to the Viking survivors.
Luckily for the raiders it wasn't enough and in the final tally they had caused 23 massacre points to the Anglo-Saxons, against 19 massacre points. Viking victory for 1 point!.
The game was fast (1 hour and a half) brutal and a lot of fun.
