Fellow LAFers, I'm after some advice: I have a decent collection of 1:50 Corgi WWII AFV die casts, including shermans, Churchills, cromwells, panthers and perhaps a tiger, as well as some resin armoured cars. I'd really like a few Hetzers though and I was wondering what is out there that would fit best with the 1:50 die casts in terms of size?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Rubicon do a Hetzer in 1/56. There kits are pretty easy to put together, and always lovely. Far better than anything you’ll get in resin. I guess they’ll be a whisker smaller in scale than the 1/50 models though...

Thanks Richard. I'd looked at the Rubicon kit but wasn't sure how 'big' it was in relation to other kits, such as the Warlord kit. I've tried searching for size comparisons, but to no avail. I've read your comments on Rubicon before and they sound pretty good.

Yeah, they’re good. I think they’re bang on 1/56 scale. They’re a perfect match for my 1/56 Blitzkrieg and Perry resin AFVs. Don’t know about the Warlord/Italieri kits. The Warlord resin vehicles always look a bit lumpy to me, but that could just be down to the pictures on their website. To be fair, I haven’t tried them.

Given that I'd only field Hetzers from one manufacturer, it may be OK to integrate with my other vehicles. The only ones that I couldn't deal with so far were Solido R35s that were just too big for me to accept!

Classic Armour Diecast have some Pz 38 (t)s and Marder III as well as Pz IV Ds & H. Ebay has been my only source for them. 1/48 scale but match in nicely with Corgi.
Solido have some different ones as well.
I agree about the R35s, way overscale.

Tamiya 1/48 kits match up well with Corgi 1/50 diecasts but they are modellers kits so they have a lot of parts.

beware, the Hetzer is a small vehicle, a 1/56 one will look like a toy with 1/50 vehicles ... better try a 1/48 one ( Tamyia , avaible easily )

Tamiya is definitely the safest bet.
Plus it's Tamiya...so it'll fall out of the box and build itself

The Tamiya 38t variants are all rather good. I don't own a Tamiya Hetzer myself, but I built a 38t-based Marder last year, seen below with Warlord Games figures as an improvised crew. A very good kit, the tracks take a bit of patience but are much more robust than their Panzer II's.
The Hetzer will be, of course, rather lower and thus less bulky, but I would also suggest using a Tamiya kit since the Warlord one is really on the diminutive side.

Thanks guys. I found a reasonably priced Marder III from Classic Armour after that tip. I'll take a look at the 1:48 kits too.

The Rubicon Hetzer does look like a nice piece.

Just been looking at historical shots of a jagdpanther next to a hetzer, I might need to go for a 1:48 kit after all. Shame, I really like the look of the Rubicon kits.

If you already have 1:50 Corgi stuff, you definitely have to do the 1:48 Tamiya Hetzer...hell you might even score once from eBay from Bandai. Do not use the 1:56 stuff...way too small...IMO.

The Tamiya-models work well. Detailed and work nice with 28mm figures. Sometimes 1:56 is a little bit tiny for most of the bigge 28mm. 1:56 fits better to the smaller perry-miniatures.

Thanks. My figures are mainly Artizan and Crusader with a mix of Black Tree and old Bolt Action, so they look pretty good against the diecasts. The Rubicon stuff does look very good, though I suspect it may be dwarfed by the 1:50 stuff.

For those, I would definitely recommend using 1/50 and 1/48 scale kits/models. I got a lot of the BTD GIs and Germans back in the day and with the exception of the Tamiya Tiger, which is huge in 1/48, I almost exclusively went 1/48 which look perfectly fine.
For Empress (e.g. old Anglian SCW) and Perry, I'll take 1/56 any day of the week.
