Title: The Travails of '44. A Pikeman's Lament Campaign
Post by: pbjunky1 on April 13, 2018, 10:56:43 PM
As a few of us at Wigan Wargames  have been enjoying one –off  games of  Pikeman’s Lament  we decided to have a go at the campaign system contained in the rules.
The campaign is set  in Scotland and Northern England and there’ll be scope with the Scottish elements for characters changing sides according to clan/family loyalties.
So to check out the first action in the campaign and how those ner'do wells  Mungo McGregor and Rupert, Weasel of the Rhine acquited themselves  check out the full write up.

Well done with this 👍
I love the write up on your website.
We really enjoy the rules too, and it’s good to get ECW figures to the table.

I agree with flatpack. Great to see the campaign system in action. I am thinking of trying to organising one around these rules myself.

Nice layout. I have always liked campaigns, but have fallen at so many (different) fences over the decades.

Another 48 point battle last week, sadly the Royalists prevailed this time, but a church graveyard was desecrated....so obviously a moral victory!!

Storming the redoubt on the Knockflossie road
The second 1.v.1 game involved Maurice Weasel of the Rhine  versus Old Murdo Erskine (a confederate of the McGregors).
Maurice had established a redoubt covering the main pass into McGregor territory.  Old Murdo had the job of assaulting it.
In a close run fight Maurice  Weasel of the Rhine's shilly-shallying  eventually cost him the game and he fled the field in novel but ignominious fashion

After a long break we had a refresher game to get back into the rules.
