Indeed, ESR is a grand tactical rule set, so to win you need to focus a lot more on jockeying for position than combat – where there are practically no decisions for you to make. This makes the games all about timing and coordination, which require a lot of maneuver.

Our 2nd ESR Napoleonics game at AdeptiCon, the French managed to succeed in forcing an Austrian withdrawal, but it was costly.
