I always liked the village in the 7 samurai, the film also by the way so I make my version based on a style gassho early enough dilapidated the peasants have other worries than to maintain their homes

Very nice looking buildings. And from the state of your cutting board I can assume you are not a newbie at this. :D
-
Beautiful! You've managed to create the level of dilapidation that I strive for but never quite manage to pull off. Nicely done thatch too. If you ever were to cast and sell these you've almost certainly got a buyer in me :-*

You have done a very nice job with these, I watched the 7 Samurai last week on youtube, 1st time I've seen the film and I took about 90 screen shots for reference, he obviously went for poor and unkempt with the village buildings, you've done a good job capturing it.
Nice colour on the wood and thatch as well.
Did you use an epoxy like milliput for the thatch, it's turned out really well.
Hopefully you will have more to post.
Cheers

not epoxy or milliput, I use self-hardening modeling paste that costs less and works just as well for that

Dang that's some beautiful work on the thatch, with the multiple ages of it in different parts of the roof. What's the paint sequence for the "old" (grey-ish) thatch? Black to greys to small/random amounts of yellow then white?

yes it takes a certain dexterity to work this modeling clay I could use magic sculpt or other but the roofs are really big and the cost would have been excessive it has 1 saying in French "the end justifies the means"
-
I wonder if wood putty would work the same... its dirt cheap
-
I don't know
-
Outstanding buildings! ;)
-
They look wonderful painted up, great stuff!

it has 1 saying in French "the end justifies the means"
The similar Greek saying translation: "the end sanctifies the means" - sometimes the means are a bit... dirty ;)
I follow your work with extreme interest, as your sculptingdexterity is outstanding!
Keep up the good job!

Wonderful stuff, up to your usual excellent standards ;D
