Thanks for posting these.

In case anyone isn't familiar with TAG: they're first rate miniatures that are poorly served by the product photography. I have most of the Tudor line and will pick up a few of these later landsknechts.

These look really good. I am tempted, but I have little knowledge of this era so, at the risk of looking like a plum, what campaigns/battles would these (late Landsknechts) have been involved in? Would the clothing still have been a riot of colour?

Thanks

Absolutely brilliant.  Bravo.

A couple sources on clothing:
For what it's worth, I'm convinced many of the multi-colored landsknechts are overpainted. Even in the Battle of Pavia tapestry from 1528, you might see a yellow doublet and blue breeches. Other than white slashes, that's it.

Edit: here's a review of The First Book of Fashion with lots of pictures: https://www.theguardian.com/books/gallery/2015/nov/12/renaissance-selfies-the-first-book-of-fashion-in-pictures (https://www.theguardian.com/books/gallery/2015/nov/12/renaissance-selfies-the-first-book-of-fashion-in-pictures)

Perfect troops for Landsknecht taking part in the Wars of Religion in France in the 1560's and 1570's (just add some Schwarz Reiters for cavalry support, and pour)

Absolutely agree. They have great product -I have their Ottomans- but poor photos. It's a pity, really, because the miniatures are really great sculpts and, usually, nicely casted.

Which line do you recommend for the Reiters?

Ideally what you are looking for are fellows who look like these (half or 3/4 armor, burgonet, closed burgonet, or morion):

https://weaponsandwarfare.com/2017/03/31/24376/

Unfortunately, TAG doesn't make Reiters yet.  So you are left having to make do from other lines.  Below link has size comparisons of figures from various manufacturers of Renaissance figures.  http://renaissanceminiatures.blogspot.com/

A good representation of a Reiter was the old Warhammer metal Pistoleer, probably now available only on Ebay:   https://picclick.co.uk/Oldhammer-Warhammer-Citadel-The-Empire-4-x-Pistoliers-123055214423.html#&gid=1&pid=1

Old Glory, in their historical Wars of Religion line,   http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/products.asp?cat=211
makes a pack of Schwarzreiters (WRR-18)  in a largish 25mm (see the renaissanceminiatures.blogspot link above for size comparison of foot figures with TAG).  Unfortunately, their website doesn't have a picture of that pack WRR-18, but here is a link to the commanders pack so you can see the style of sculpting.   http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/proddetail.asp?prod=WRR-22   [Note the WRR-17 pack, Schwarzreiters with boar spear, is really circa 1540's - 1550's and too early to be compatible with pluderhosen- dressed landsknecht).

Wargames Foundry has some in their Late 16th Century 1560-1610 range    https://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/late-16th-century-1560-1610/products/liz010-reiters

Redoubt has a fairly extensive line  https://www.redoubtenterprises.com/product-category/renaissance/cavalry-renaissance/reiters/    (again, those with top hats would be a little early - I would start at R555 and higher for dress compatible with pluderhosen)

Thanks for that detailed reply Metternich. Any opinion on the new Warlord reiters?

I haven't seen any Reiters from Warlord - what I have seen in their Wars of Religion range are mounted Arquebusiers, which are something totally different.  The later period Reiters (of same timeframe as the pluderhosen Landsknechts) are pistol-armed, armored cavalry.  The mounted Arquebusiers (and Petronels) are intended as a supporting arm (they help "shoot" the cavalry onto their target - alternatively they could operate as dragoons).

I found these Landsknecht flags on the Perfect Captain page. They are from the French wars of religion. I think they would be suitable for the pluderhosen Landsknechts.

Its on this link.....http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/SpanishMain.html    see 15mm flags ( you can enlarge them.)
