I painted these By Fire and Sword miniatures for the Grand Tournament, that was held last weekend in Warsaw.
First the hussars. I had to give them broken lances, because in the original BFaS rulebook there are two separate mentions of the Muscovite hussars breaking their lances while riding trough a gate. I made them from Lithuanian winged hussars. The models were an absolute joy to paint.

Then I made this Imperial command base with dead drummer. I took the inspiration from the model of the captain as he looks like he's making a silent prayer to the Heavens. I liked painting him a lot.

Very, very good indeed (especially when you consider they are only 15mm)

Where did you source the muscovite cavarlry standard from?

Amazing! Really like the flags as well! What unit is the Stripey one from?

This is a very good job! Bravo! But it was better to use the red color of caftans. Here are the figures:

Thanks for the compliments gents!
The standards are made by Wargamer ltd the manufacturer of By Fire and Sword miniatures. They are not actually historical flags just inspired from the sources.
@Andrei1975: I now that the red shuold have been the colour number 1, mut I wanted them to be green, so they would not be mixed with Polish hussars.

Those look great, and the broken lances crack me up.

My research on the color of kaftan's of the Polish Hussars was that there was no set kaftan color and they were found in a wide variety of colors. The Knotel print shows a Hussar with a blue kaftan while an officer in the background is in a red kaftan. Other colors I've read of were blue, green, brown, yellow, buff and of course red. It is possible that wealthy commanders may have dressed their troops in a single color, but having a variety of colors does not seem to be incorrect.

In this case, we are talking about Russian hussars and I quote the reconstruction of them:
