Title: Artillery In Bolt Action
Post by: punkrabbitt on May 16, 2018, 11:38:24 PM
Do any of y'all have experience in using on-table field artillery howitzers for Bolt Action? I am thinking of using a piece for my Warlord Chinese, but I would like some opinions before I commit to it.

Thank you.

Heavy howitzers look cool and can dish out a few pins (even to tanks) but do not expect them to kill any infantry unless they foolishly bunch up or sit in a house for you.

As per V1 best time to shoot is after the target has played an order so they cannot go down - that way you might kill 2 inf instead of 1!  lol

They still kill enemy MG. ATG and mortars really well

I use  1 to 2 Light Howitzers in my Bolt Action Nationalist Chinese (Points allowing), while cheap they tend not to be worth while unless you can get a wee bit lucky or have some well placed spotters.

Though at 55pts for  a reg 7.6cm leFK16 field gun + spotter I tend to take the risk and hope it pays off.

I've got one of these too in my Chinese force.
I think I prefer the heavy mortar though?

To be fair the extra crew option does give the light howitzer in interesting slant on the game!

In big games I take both of the above  :o
