I've been building up scenery in order to run a 16th Century Dutch revolt game at an upcoming club/Lardie event. I've mostly used the blank mdf building from 4 ground that i've tarted up and converted. I've got a bit more to do with figures and stuff but I'll keep you posted as I work along.

And a quick pic of one of the Dutch units. There are going to be three of these plus a small gun, a group of halberdiers and a Group of cavalry. These are mostly done apart from a couple of mounted characters. The Spanish are needing another 8 pikemen painted and a group of cavalry. That lot plus another character and a couple of carts and i'm raring to go.

More blethering on the blog if you can stand that kind of thing.
Cheers

Yes indeed, very nice work.

Very nice work. MDF buildings really do benefit from the extra work you can put into them- big improvement!
-
Well done! Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely stunning. I am truely amazed at how you managed to "unMDF" those building. My main concern when making terrain is the weathering and extra detail. I just haven't found the propper tecnic yet. My building always end up looking like the masons just left. I also love the bases for the building. It really brings them to life plus it makes it easier to define the footprint of the build-up area when playing.
Oh and can you please show some more pictures of the miniatures for your game because they look really cool as well.
Cheers
Erik

More work on the Dutch Revolt set up. I tried my hand at designing a building to be laser cut and here's how it turned out

Then, while the wife was sunbathing, i got all my toys out on the kitchen floor to check that they all fit. I was pleasantly surprised.

Only a group of Spanish and some mounted commanders to complete before I run a game a the local club.
More words and pictures on the blog as always

Wow! :-* :-* :-*
Looking good!!!

The village is awesome and your minis so good looking! Congrats! Keep up the good job!
-
I'm really enjoying this thread. Excellent work. Out of interest, who makes the pikemen in the blue breeches?
-
Looking good. The bases really add to the effect :)
-
Great set up and figures.
Love the look.
-
Very good !!!
-
@Paul Richardson - The pikemen in blue are Foundry sea dogs. Almost all the dutch are. That unit does have a fair amount of figures with headswaps though. The donors were Foundry or casting room musketeers. I realised I had a load of them with Morion heads and figured they'd look better on the pikemen.

First game at the club using the Sharp Practice variant 'Sharply Buffed' from the 2017 Lardy summer special. Played really well and the boys at the club enjoyed it. Here are a few pics but there is a full report and more pics on the blog.

Quite enjoyed your blogpost. Wonderful figures !

That looks superb, thefigures especialy. Must have a look at Sharply Buffed.
-
Very nice to see your scenery and minis in action! A grand spectacle! :-*
-
Like the buildings - especially the ones with integrated yards, and the piggies the best! Okay, I'm a bit odd about critters in games, the more the merrier I say.

I suspect it makes tables look a little more alive/real. :)
