Picked up some of the new 20mm British Army of the Rhine minis from Under Fire, waiting for another three blokes to make up the numbers...

Interesting figures, the Carl Gustav looks way to small the ones I carried were a damn sight bigger!! 66mm looks about right in size and to have that many guys with 58 pattern webbing hung in its original form would be amazing,, I take it the ones in white are marines in Norway?
-
The exact same webbing is a little off-putting, I have chopped off a few bum rolls but would probably need a chisel to remove some of the tad large resi pouches, that said considerably better detail than anything else.
These are all PIP, the tan is just the first layer for the DPM, not snow camo :) The extra figures have just turned up, so I'll get them based and primed then try and get them all finished.
-
I'm looking forward to seeing how the dpm turns out. Always interested in how people tackle it.
However, not so sure about the figures. The heads look too small. Personally I would go for either Elheim or Liberation Miniatures. Both are very nice and full of character.

I cam imagine.
Regarding their uniformity though, I had them done as they 'should' be so that customers can modify to their hearts content afterwards. One of the JNCO's does have 'Hero sleeves' and the SNCO has had his kidney pouches repalced with three separate ones, as I do like to put character into a few of the figures.

Westy, all said slightly tongue in cheek and not really a criticism. I'm sure some Bn CO's did insist on regulation 58 pattern webbing being worn, I do remember a platoon commander in the 80's who always wore his kit as issued right down to his doss bag on top of his large pack. Always wet he was!
Nice to see some new BAOR minis about thanks

You might want to hide your wallet, there's more packs to come and Soviet opposition.

Nice job.

Great paint job, the webbing looks fabulously real! I'm well impressed with the end result.

The transformation is stunning through the various stages. :o

@ Ultravanillasmurf: Thanks
@Wellington Bonaparte:Thanks for the comment. The webbing on these is probably the best I've seen, It actually looks like '58 patt.
@Mike: Cheers mate. I wanted to do some Brits in DPM for a while. Only conversions where chopping a couple of the AT blokes in half and swapping the legs around, swapping some arms on the SF GPMG team to make them go prone and removed a few poncho rolls.
I started to paint up a mixed bag squad of Falklands War Brit infantry from TDQ that had been stuck in a box for a very long time.
MG team is an Elheim loader and an UnderFire RhSAS gunner, the TQD minis are a bit smaller but then I think the more recent UnderFire figures have got a little bit bigger.

Well done Ash. You've done an excellent job there.

Thanks Bill, much appreciated.
I'm having a bit of a painting break due to house move, but will no doubt get back into ...
-
Ash. Sorry about this but I've been in contact with my sculptor and ground has now been cut on not one, not two, but five 20mm Milan atgm packs.

Bill Weston.

Very nice.

Cheers chaps. It's funny how taking pictures shows up the bits missed. A few areas in need of more matt varnish.
Here's the platoon; three sections with GPMG & Carl Gustaf, a couple also have an LMG. HQ section is not quite standard; Officer, radio op, 51cm mortar team, then two attached GPMG teams and two Milan teams.

Another winner Ash. Very well painted, the colours seem spot on... took me back a few years with these. Well done Sir.
-
Nice. IIRC I had 3 waterbottle pouches in addition to the usual configuration and 2 bum rolls secured on top of the kidney pouches, all held in really tight by the ubiquitous bungee. One bum roll for a poncho and waterproof trousers and jacket and one for my Noddy Suit. The 'correct' configuration was pretty awful, the bum roll in the designed location flapped around when you were running. We always tried to keep the webbing away from our legs.
-
Nice work.

Not posted in here for a while; converted some UnderFire Rhodesians to look a bit like 1970's Brit SAS.

It never ceases to amaze me what people do with the figures they buy from me. It's truly amazing. The 20mm BAOR range is almost complete now, insofar as these things are ever complete and there's a Blowpipe SAM team en route and a medium mortar team too. Future plans include a company command team, MP's & gents with berets. Whilst I'm here there'll be more 20mm 32btn SADF & 28mm US Army in PASGT.
Empress Miniatures will be doing BAOR & Russian VDV in 28mm.
I've posted a few photo's below to show you what's coming soon BAOR wise. The 32btn SADF & WOMBAT packs are already available.

Thanks ulverston, much appreciated.
Looking at them all on screen, I think I might put another green wash over the trousers, as they look a bit on the grey side.

Think I'm done with chopping up little 20mm blokes for now.

The effort you put into these conversions is amazing, excellent stuff.
-
Wonderful conversion work.
-
I love the consistency of your style :)
The conversions you do are inspirational to say the least :D
-
Thanks guys. I'm doing the usual spot the bits I missed when looking at the pictures; bloke in shorts has had the rather large bipod shortened.
Wasn't a masive amount of chopping on this lot; the rucksack came from a TQD WW2 Brit Para and cut off pretty cleanly. The rest was mainly removing the original model's webbing without too much damage, so I could reuse all the waterbottles and turn the kidney pouches into E&E pouches, the drop SLR pouches & pouches on the patrol vests are Apoxie Sculpt. The mesh parts are Green stuff ( the straps on the walking bloke with the GPMG came out a bit thick, I think because I didn't bother to file down the yoke he was sculpted with and just slapped the GS over the top). He also has a monster mold line on his head scarf, I'll attack that with a file next time...
I've ended up with ten of these, so may add another two to have three four man patrols each with a GPMG.
-
The Sultans forces and Adoo are going to be a challenge.

Final two.

Some blokes obviously just don't feel the cold :D
Lovely mix of figures. I particularly like the bloke kneeling with the AR-15 :)
-
Yes indeed, Mr 'Suns out guns out' laughs at the offer of a shirt!
I very nearly tried to GS some sleeves on that one, but would then have needed a collar etc and I'd already done the mesh bit, so managed to talk myself out of it, which was remarkably easy to do.
I quite like this figure as he has the weapon held left handed.
A couple of previous versions of the same figure:

Nice stuff.
