Title: Post-ap motorbike... second model finished!
Post by: Maxx Von Morton on July 10, 2018, 08:15:04 AM
Hi everybody!

I wasn't sure to post this here or in the future borard, since the base model is an Orlock from Necromunda, but its vibe is soooo post-ap, that I thought you guys here could appreciate this conversion.

So...
I wanted to do something different with my orlock gang, and since the background says that, when they aren't shooting with other gangs in the underhive, they run the flat ash deserts of Necromunda surface protecting mineral convoys, here comes the conversion idea.
I took inspiration from some pics I found on the net (sorry, but can't remember who did those conversions, nor where I've seen them  ???) and got this Tamiya 1/35 motorbike. Of course, the motorbike had to be adapted to the smaller model, the main issue was the saddle height: so I went for a chopper configuration.  8)
As you can see, the model is still WIP, and right now I'm trying to figure out how to do the handlebar, but I think it is turning out great.
Yeah, it's an orlock ganger, but can fit any mad-max post-ap scenario, I think...  :)

Now, stop chatting, and some pics  :D

excellent conversion! I find it somehow surprising that 1/35 kits now fit GW miniatures perfectly

Shiznit , you are right it is 1/35, I had to scroll back up and check. I just presumed it was a 1/48 kit!

Thank you all for your kind comments  :)

It is a 1/35 kit, indeed... a small motorbike, but still a little too large to fit the 28 mm model. That's why I had to lower the saddle  and change the handlebar angle (turning it into a chopper  ;)). But with some small changes, the effect turns out pretty good.

So... I finished assembling the model! And I'm really pleased with its mad-max vibe  :D 8)

This was so fun that I already started another one  ;D  This will be some more aggressive motorcycle, faster, with less stowage... coud be used as a convoy scout, or something similar... Engine and mechanical stuff from an italeri 1/35 model kit, wheels from zinge industries

Very cool!! Loving the custom!!

Infinity has some bike models too which look rather good and should fit GW 28 Heroic scale alright.

Cheers

Hi again!
And again, thank you for your comments!
I share with you some WIP pics of the second morotbike... It's almost finished, and I'm pretty pleased with it  :)

Converting these bikes is so much fun!

Yes, Infinity has some really cool motorbike models and maybe I'll get them. But for now I keep converting these 1/35 models for many reasons: 1) they are cheaper: I got 3 motorbike models on ebay for 20 euros, postage included, so not too bad; 2) Infinity models are a little too "tidy" for me, I'm trying to have some more "ratrod post-ap" appearence for my bikes; 3) It's so fun!  :D

Hi!
Back from a short holiday, I had some model time  :)

Here is the second bike finished... probably I'll put something as a decoration in the front of the handlebar, but I consider the model finished  :D
