Hello all
New to this part of the forum and the subject so i need your help.
I have some copplestone bandits for BOB and i was looking for more variants on other compatible manufacturers if they exist.
Also need some civilians to use with them.
I´m familiar with some foundry ones on their casting room page but i was looking for more variants.
Thanks for watching
Cheers

Try TAG for Vietnamese Civilians, some of their Up Country range might suit. Pulp has some suitable packs as well.
-
Empress have some Tong figures and civilians now available from Tsuba - I think they were originally Obelisk Miniatures

The Pulp Yangtze gangs are being remade.
-
Thank you for the tips, Von Stroheim and Poiter50. :)
The Empress ones are interesting.
Its a pitty the Pulp ones arent available.

If you still want them they are available via the the Crucible Crush

I've got some of the Tong I'll send you mate, I'm never going to paint them.
-
Argsilverson, thank you for the tip.
Unfortunately they are sold in Canada and the taxes and customs values charged in Portugal wont allow me to order them. :(
James, thank you for your help. PM sent. :)

Think that Northstar Miniatures stocks Pulp Figures and Crucible Crush in Europe.
Although they don't sell that particular line in their shop it might be worth asking.
-
Belgian, maybe they still have some packs.
Its worth asking. Though i only see one pack in stock from Crucible Crush.
-
Victorious Miniatures have some swordsmen that will do nicely for bandits.

The old Obelisk (now Empress I believe) Tong and civilians are my personal favorites. I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them introduced here on LAF. Here are some of mine (most painted by the great Orctrader)

Both mix well with Copplestone IMO

I have ordered several times directly from Pulp figures from Canada to Greece and there was no custom duties and taxes. Only necessary to ask for airmail otherwise it takes ages to reach you.
Please also ask Miniaturicum in Germany if they have some still available. Alas, I see now they are on holidays and they reconstruct their shop.
-
Argsilverson, you are lucky. :)
As an example i´ve ordered some stuff from US with a total value of 39 dollars and i´ve payed 31,88 euros of taxes.
That gives me enough reasons to not order again. :(
No fault of the manufacturers. Its just how things are working here in Portugal, unfortunatelly.
Marianas_gamer, thank you for your tips.
Victorious miniatures ordered (3 packs under way). :D
The Obelisk ones are waiting for next month. Discipline must prevail... ::)

Slotta bases?? I hate slotta bases! Nice looking figures Empress, but please no slotta bases!

West Wind have civilians in their Vietnam range that are quite useful:

Traveller, thank you. :)
Indeed they are. :D

Sadly there are no civilians of any sort in the TAG Vietnam (Up Country) range. The closest are Viet Cong and they're all armed, and not readily convertible to civilian wear.

Thanks Lon. :)
They were a real blast to paint.

Personally, I'm looking at the IHMN Black Dragon Tong set, LINK (http://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=5259) when funds permit. ::)
-
Malcolm,
Oh Yeah!!! :o

Hey Rui,
If you need a lot of chineses, use the plastic Perry's madhists as base for conversion.
I think it's working if you get the time to look at them closely. Most of the work is on the paint job.
I have done this in 15mm a long time ago.....for Boxer war.

These Foundry Taiping can work with a bit of careful selection and pruning

-
Eric, thank you for the tip. :)
I wont do much conversions on this theme except a certain motorcycle with bandits on it... ;D
I got some more copplestone figures plus some victorious miniatures and the odd small conversion and thats it. :)
Smirnoff those foundry ones are great but unfortunatelly they are on the small size (more 25mm) so they wont mix well with copplestone. Though they are great for another project involving chinese versus japanese. :D
-
Coppelstone a big for chinese people, so use smaller size could be a good idea too.
Redoubt's Boxer could then fit the job, as the Old Glory ones then.
;)
In the "big" scale, you have the Gringo ones which can be mixed with Coppelstone.
Eric
-
Eric, do you have both Gringos 40 and copplestone chinese?
If so could you take a comparative photo please?
That would be helpfull for all. :)
My BOB figures will be mainly Copplestone so the size will be according to that manufacturer. :)
-
I have some maximilian ones so will post a picture today
I have see the Gringo 'chinesee at CRISIS on their stand.
The owner is a here on the LAF, may be send him a pm about it.

Rui,
here is the comparison scale with Coppelstone (modern one) - Gringo 40 and a Maximilian's Foundry :

and

i'm nearly sure that the chineses are on the same scale than the maximilian's range.
;)
enjoy

Many thanks Eric. :)
That was very helpfull to me.

One problem is that many of the Old West and other pre-WWI figures still have queue. A few might still have them in the 20s and 30s, but most ditched them after the Manchus fell.
-
chaps
just to say my figures are consistent with the French
foreign legionnaire as pictured above ..we do a few
now with more to come. will post some pics when im able :D

That's what bugs me most. There are small but crucial differences that make 30's era Chinese civvies noticeably different from Boxer-era ones.
-
I would be interested in getting a.couple sculpted via Steve Barber, if someone wanted to share the cost?
-
All ready done and on the moulding list.
Matt ,Lon you seriously didn't think I leave it at this one Chinese league,a truck and two packs of warlord cannon fodder . There's way too much to play with for just twelve figures. ;D
-
Very good news! Especially as I think that I have shaken out the problems with my first order (not an uncommon problem when you live on an island in the Back of Beyond lol lol). Now I have to get my orders in to gringo and Pulp Alley o_o
-
Steve Barber Models will have a couple shortly

Have a look at the Chinese riflemen / Bandits that we do at Victorious miniatures, we also hope to have civilians by the end of the year if all goes well, including wagon drives, coolies etc.
Will have Cixi and her body guards, nobles and generals, or at least that's the plan.

Will these be more Boxer-era figures (as most seem to be), or are you planning for civvies from a later date?
-
The civilians will be a mixture covering from 1890 to 1920+ , we have some in stock from 'Scotia' that are fairly generic.
Male and female villagers, children and animals, have a look they are now up on our site.
More to follow later this year.
