Saw this trailer today.
American paratroopers land in France and discover some Nazi project with genetic modifications/zombies or whatever. Thought this might be of interest to some.

Not sure how they will explain a black soldier serving along white soldiers in a very segregated war.
But, it is just a fantasy story so whatever.

I agree that a black trooper in the 101st in WW2 would not have happened. There was however a black paratroop regiment, the 555th or Triple Nickle. They mostly did smoke jumps fighting forest fires here in the States. Funny how times change and by Vietnam the 101st as well as other Divisions had troopers from all walks of life.
But as said, this is a fantasy movie and I am looking forward to it, and am also going to leave my historical brain at the door and just enjoy the movie.

The 82nd had troopers (I think) from the 555th within a few years of the war ending. I'm sure I've seen that they fought in Korea.
I'd assumed this was a low budget cheesy horror / video game style film and then saw JJ Abrams name on it, which usually attracts a much bigger budget.

In the trailers I have seen it does not show many US soldiers.
Mainly civilians fighting the monsters.

I've stopped paying attention to critics a long time ago, and have resorted to doing it the old fashioned way; go see it and judge for myself.
Too many films that I really liked were completely destroyed by the critics, and vice versa I've seen films that were praised to high heaven and really didn't do it for me. Personal taste, etc.
And from what I've seen of the trailer, this will sit very well with both myself and my friends, no matter if it's well done or not. But hey; high budget nazi zombies! :D
And even if it sucks; bad movies are a flavour all of their own... ;)

Yep, the critics seldom seem to understand what I enjoy. I'm a big zombie fan form the B movie T&A type to the fancy high budget, and have never missed an episode of TWD. I plan to watch it and will probably add it to my movie library.

Saw it last night, was ok. Nothing amazing but not bad either. The scenes of overlord before the zombies were the best part of the movie for me.

I went and saw the movie a few days ago.
Not bad at all.
I would rate it a C+, B-.
But then again I really like this type of movie.

My brother was talking about this. I am planning to watch it with my best friend though. My brother is out of town and I still remember the time when we used to watch shows by Andy Yeatman (https://mipblog.com/2017/10/netflix-kids-keynote-diversity-panel-mipjunior-2017/) together at granny’s place. Now we just share the information online.

Enjoyable film though.
My favourite scene was the 'review' of the posh unit by the dopey squad member.

I finally got to watch this via Netflix, and it was OK. I was entertained and the premise was really good. But it was at the same time almost a comedy for me due to such a mass of historical errors - I had to keep telling myself it was a Weird War story. Not sure I'll add it to my library, but glad I got to see it.

I had a more difficult time suspending my disbelief over the non-segregated unit, the colored paratrooper officer, the ridiculously short paratrooper training, the French woman able to handle a huge variety of small arms, and the glut of STG 44s than I did with actual zombies.
No. Just no.
Can't a guy get some semblance of historical accuracy in his zombie movies!! Sheesh

I saw an article on the web telling that Overlord was linked to the Cloverfield movies… it said that these movies take places on several timeline on parallel universes… which might explain the non-segregated unit in 1944 on that particular universe… ;D

I've seen it. It won't win any acting awards. But, if you're looking for a pseudo-historical, pulp B-Movie-esque ww2 zombie flick that's got a touch of Boys Own Adventure and Action! comics, then this is definitely the film for you.
