We visited an amazing centre of experimental archaeology here in the UK at the Butser Ancient Farm where the study into the way ancient peoples lived and constructed their homes helps to inform on the many excavations carried out here and elsewhere.

I lived in Bordon for a bit, not too far from Butser. Perhaps it was because I hated being there so much that some of the local historic sites passed me by :-[

Thanks for taking the time to post all of that. Much useful stuff for us wargamers.
My school trip was to Chedworth Roman villa, I still remember it fondly.
It is a shame that few pupils get to go on such trips now-a-days.

Thanks for your comments chaps. It was really great seeing the school kids doing their project work on the day and the staff and teachers getting involved in exciting their interest.
Butser is a great place to visit and highly reccomended.
Cheers
