Thank you! My plan is to have 9 regular and 1 first cohorts.
Supporting units will be 2 infantry auxilla (archer when Victrix finish them and one regular) and 2 units of cavalry (hope they will be finished soon).
I am just collecting historical miniatures, not playing (unfortuatelly).

So as the first cohort is double sized that's 275 figures PLUS your planned auxiliaries and cavalry.... :o will look impressive if you manage to finish!

Looking forward to seeing the whole legion on completion.

Same here...  :) that's why I paint 3 different periods (Napoleonic Waterloo, HYW and Early Romans).

Are you going to add any Scorpions/carroballistae or onagers?  And maybe a medicus?

My own legionaries are still in their boxes.

'Take some stopping' Harry?
(To the tune men of Harlech)
"Romans come across the channel
all wrapped up in tin & flannel.
Half a pint of woad
will show them!
Celts win the fight!!"
Don't listen to the Historians, they were all Romans.

Fight a Roman Civil War, it would even things up and there is no hairy arse horde to paint, unless you include some as allies.

Is that the victrix cavalry figure? I was going to buy some of these but he looks huge compared to the Centurion. I think I will stick with Warlords and Aventine for the cavalry.

Yes, it's Victrix one... Not sure why he is bigger. I am very disappointed.

Edit

Also, cav oval shield is bigger than scutum.  o_o

Seems to be the same type story that went with the Warlord Games EIR auxiliary infantry against the Legionaries. The excuse given was that Germans were bigger than Romans so the auxiliaries would naturally look bigger. The response to that was classic! Someone asked - "if that's the case than why aren't the German tribesmen figures bigger than the legionaries".

Or why are the Caesarian Legionaries bigger than the Imperials, especially as they were more likely to have been recruited in Italy? Mind you have you seen the size of Warlord's EIR Optio figures they are huge, even bigger than the Auxiliaries!

Hi Pinno,

nice cavalry, is it possible to do a shot with them next to the Legionaries? They look bigger but not sure if that is just the angle of the photo?

Cheers

Absolutley Stunning!!!

What size border are the movement trays you are using for the different units?

It really makes them look more like a unit moving across a battlefield!  The fort in the background is stunning also!

I hope we see some Celts and other Barbarians soon  ;)

Movement trays for cavalry auxilia and marching cohorts are 15x16 cm and attacking one is 30x8. I try to make modular trays - 2 attacking ones are the same as 2 marching cohorts in size - when I put them one behind the other.

I will make a brake for the roman legion and start Celts soon.
You can check my Fort thread.   ;)

Yeah, I have now 2 infantry warbands,40 men strong and 1 cavalry unit (one more on the way). My plan is to have 6 or 8 infantry warbands, 2 cavalry and one fanatic warband.
After that Dacians and Germans.  ;)
