Can anyone identify who makes the flying stand in the attached photo from The Burning Sands of Syrtis Major blog? What other flying stands are folks using?

Sorry, I'm no help, but I would have thought they were a DIY project.

Oshiro do a lovely Perspex stand if you need one. Sorry can't identify the one in your photo.

I do but you’d better be quick as I won’t be doing it for much longer.

Thanks for the info on the acrylic stands!

I have been considering plastic champagne glasses (flutes?). I think I saw Froggy the Great do that once.

Wow I never realized there were so many kinds of plastic champagne glasses! Most of them are too narrow to be stable, but these look like they would work well:

Amazon seems like a spot of bother.. (unless you are planning a Fleet and need significant quantities) ..because such things are available in 4 packs at grocery stores (at least those near me).
Need to find a good source of acrylic rod for a stouter option. Something in the 6 - 12mm diameter range.

Back in the day when we were running Soldier's Companion, we would use pint beer glasses with some blu-tac to hold our fliers. Extremely stable, and you could fit figures under the glass.

Hi,
Sorry I didn't see this post before. The game that is pictured is the one that I ran with Keith Frye assisting as co-GM - "France Needs Liftwood" - and the scenario is available in a WI mag.
The flight stands were made by Jeff Roncone, one of the members in The Colonial Boys Club (I forgot to credit him in the WI mag article). Pre-made acrylic rods were cut to various sized (needed to show the various heights), and acrylic sheets were used to cut two feet for the stands, atop which a pre-made acrylic slot was affixed. All the acrylic items are available online, so do a search.
We decided to go this route, as the stands: a) looked the best on the table (being clear), and b) the arch of the feet allowed them to be easily placed over/around units, and c) the stands were secure enough not to topple.
Regards,
Bob Giglio

I've been using the plastic champagne glasses as flight stand for years. I even found an over-sized plastic martini glass that worked even better.

I've been thinking about cutting the skull cups off of some Halloween wine glasses; the bases have flickering LEDs that would make for interesting effects.
I saw similar tumblers, inverted, used for flying saucer bases as UFO attackers. Swirling colours were breath-taking.
Funny, I almost typo'd 'flaying saucers', which would have been apropos as I recall the game...

I use old car ariels with crocodile clamps affixed the flyer only needs a round object glued to the point it will attach to the crocodile clamp (I use softairgun rounds for that
-
tomrommel1, do you have a photo of your aerial/crocodile clamp arrangement in use?

And an idea of the largest ships you can handle? Big flyers seen here seem a bit heavy for those aerials. I do know they are used for folks doing 1/72 biplanes, though.

Have no picture at the moment, but you are right the flyers must be quite light . I wouldn't put a resin one on one of those alas one build from styrene works a treat. On the other hand as long as you don't extend the arial to full length it works even with bigger models. I will see if I can take a picture of a stand at the weekend.
