I'm told she's going to be available from Bad Squiddo soon (no idea when), but as far as I know, she's a one-off and not part of a range (yet).

That's one nice mini and fantastically painted.
She'd have lots of uses for me - ancient, fantasy, pulp - so will be picking one up!
-
Yeah, that's a great miniature.
-
That is very nice. Great to see an Amazon warrior that isn't scantily clad and more practical.
-
Runequest Glorantha all the way!
-
Fantastic painting! :o The sword and the armour especially! :-* Is that your “paint the base colours with metal paint, but use near white highlights” technique?

Kind of. I fiddled about a bit. The base colour is a darkish red-brown and then the metal layers were a metal/non-metal paint mix, then going up to the very pale cream and white for highlights.
Runequest Glorantha all the way!
For some reason I can't help but get into a Runequest frame of mind whenever I see anything Bronze Age or early Iron Age.
-
incredibly sophiscated painting - together with the quality of the sculpt (at least I assume) - if I'd been told it was a significantly larger scale I'd have believed it.
just something so naturalistic about your faces in particular.
-
Another great figure from Bad Squiddo! She's very "Xena-like"
-
Dagnabbit, I need this. I'm building up a Bronze Age Amazon warband.
Battle on, Xena!

:-*

Of course! :D

Lovely painting.

Lovely miniature, and lovely paint, but where can one find more figures in a similar style? I need about 11 more... ;D
-
Two more Bad Squiddo Amazons to add to the collection - a large Amazon warrior with Minoan axe and an Amazon (pit fighter?) with dual khopesh. Great models both, with such well sculpted faces.

Wow! Beautiful painting Cubs, and as Chris says very Glorantha :)

Indeed, very, very well done.
In fact i can almost hear the lady with the twin blades shouting "Are you NOT entertained?!"
Excellent stuff

I'd love to see the rules for this figure :D

This scale creep is getting absurd! :D
-
It’s a Trojan something...something...
Back on topic, order placed. :)

Thanks Pacarat!

… and for no apparent reason, a Pixie Paladin riding a guinea pig. It's based on a 1p coin, to give an idea of scale.

Awesome work, but now I want a whole unit of guinea pig riding pixies.......
-
Amazing work as always. Where in the world does one acquire a Pixie Paladin riding a guinea pig?

Bad Squiddo. I've just found out, the Amazon holding her sword aloft has the guinea pig mounted Pixie as her scout, so they're a double-pack. Who knew?

Very nice minis and realy good painting :-*

While I could ask "why?", I have instead decided to ask myself "why not?", found myself lacking an adequate answer to this query, and may thus well find myself in the previously unexpected ownership of a guinea pig mounted pixie scout before too long. What a time to be alive.
Also, lovely brushwork.

For such a tiny model, it was surprisingly easy the paint. I stuck on my short range specs and painted it up in a couple of hours start to finish. The detail is crisp and directs the paint where it needs to go.
-
Stunning. :)
Putting in my request for a troupe of more "generic" Hoplite Amazons. I have in mind the contingent of Amazons (12 if I recall correctly?) that Penthesilea brought with her to Troy after the events of the Iliad. The array of "generic" amazons from other companies lean toward the opposite of what "believeable female figures" might stand for.

Having just looked up the size of a 1p coin (barbaric foreigner me), I won't deny the sculptor must have been a bit of a wizard, but to paint such a tiny figure in such a manner is not just down to the quality of the subject. I don't believe you typically paint much in, say, 10mm scale? It's not so much your experience I wonder about, but mainly interested if you approached these little ones similarly to how you would normally paint a 28mm figure, given the far more limited space for colour gradients and the likes.

My wife asked how I managed to paint the details in the face - I told her I didn't, I painted around the details in the face, which did the same job. By leaving eyes, mouth and under the nose as the base colour, then stroking in the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin with the highlights, the facial features just appeared. It was standard 3-stage colours for the most part, plenty of deep shade left to help give crisp delineation and a focus on bright colours, with a little pile of slate and relatively dull colours to the base so as to help the little fella be visible. The shiny bits on the black eyes were a tiny spot of beige underneath and a white blob on top - an effect I completely robbed from one of my daughter's story books, about woodland animals.

Thanks Cubs!
I'll post some crisper photos in the week too, with my fancy gear :D
The Kickstarters are shipped so next week....... they should all be available at retail, I'll bump when they are!

Now, Annie isn't sure if this latest addition will be an Amazon, or a Shieldmaiden, or just a random fantasy female type, so I'll show her here with the caveat that she may end up belonging to a different category. Since she's all new and such, she lacks a name as yet (Hooty McHootface is already taken), but I reckon she'd make a great 'Priestess of Athene'.

fantastic miniature! Great paint job too!

I like this range anyway, and obviously your paint jobs are incredible.. But that last one is just great. I might need it pick one up!
-
:-* Really interesting figure and superb brushwork....could see her appearing in Mortal Gods

Any chance of Bad Squiddo producing amazon figures inspired by the frieze of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus?
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Amazonomachy_from_the_Mausoleum_at_Halicarnassus_(British_Museum)
Or the Bassae Frieze?

You'd have to ask Annie, I'm just a brush jockey.
