Title: England Invaded, Episode 4, Tunbridge Wells
Post by: Skrapwelder on May 28, 2009, 01:44:23 PM
Prussian Forces

Four units of Prussian Regulars
Two units of Jagers.
One Light steam tank.
Dr Miguelito Loveless and his evil toys.

Reinforcing later in the day:
One Heavy steam tank.

English Forces

Two units from the Royal East Kent Regiment
Two units from the Royal Rifle Regiment
Two groups of armed citizenry.
One Heavy steam tank.
Two Sgt Harper class gun tractors.
The British Diplomatic Service Operative known only as "N"

The Situation

Prussian supplies and ammunition were running low. Th ePrussians had not planned on the rapid series of running fights they were going to encounter as they mad etheir way across Southern Britain. Prussian intelligence had discovered that a large cache of ammunition and supplies were lightly guarded in nearby Tunbridge Wells. Once captured the town would serve as the final jumping off point for the attack on London.

The town was lightly defended by a smal group of armed citizenry and a Heavy Tank being refitted there after taking serious damage at Bromely Common. However word of the Prussian assault on the had gotten through to British intelligence and reinforcements were dispatched in the form of a four units of infantry from the Royal Rifles and East Kent Regiments and two Sgt Harper class gun tractors. The entire force was led by a British Special Diplomatic Service Operative known as "N". The SDS was a new department within the British Intelligence service devoted to scientific developments. They were Britain's answer to Prussia's Sparks.

Prussian armor and infantry cross the parkland on the East side of town. Dr. Loveless and his toys can be seen in the rear.

Some of the hastily erected defenses manned by the men of the East Kent regiment.

Prussians advance under artillery fire from the Sgt Harpers. The Light tank takes a toll on the Riflemen defending the barricade at the end of the road.

The Public house and its outbuilding on the left held two units of armed citizens, one of which had managed to wrestle an old ship's cannon into the doorway of the white building.

The civilians manage to get a shot off with the cannon taking out some of the advancing Jagers.

Before they can get the cannon ready for another shot the Jagers race across the road and close assault the white building. Slowly the Jagers fight their way into the Pub working their way upstairs to where the bulk of the militia is firing down on the Prussians n the park. The Prussian Heavy tank arrives and heads into town.

The Prussian Light tank continues to fire into the defenses at the crossroads. More Riflemen move up on the right to support the Gun tractors firing into the Prussian Infantry.

The Prussian Light tank rams the barricade and bowls a track.

Stuck in the road the Light Tank fires down the street at British infantry.

The Prussian and British Heavy tanks head for a little meeting at the corner pub.

"N" is escorted to the front by men of The Buffs. Shortly after this photo was taken "N" disappeared in a cloud of black smoke as she assaulted the Prussian Light Tank and destroying it utterly. No sign of her was found in the rubble and it is assumed she was vaporized in the explosion.

More Buffs prepare to storm the building they know is swarming with Jagers. Unfortunately the Jagers had managed to swing the old cannon around and gave the Buffs a whiff of grapeshot. The men of East Kent shrugged it off and with a shout of: "Time, Gentlemen!" they put the remaining Jagers out of business.

Rifle Sgt Osgood leaps into the Prussian Regulars single handedly stemming the tide for a moment.

The Heavy tanks exchange shots. As the street fills with smoke and debris from the surrounding buildings getting a solid hit seems impossible for either tank.

Dr. Loveless sends his exploding evil toys in to deal with the Buffs. The toys were supposed to run into range of the target and then explode.

Unfortunately one of them explodes a little early, taking out the adjacent building and burying Dr Loveless in rubble. This picture and the next show some of the amazing rubble pieces Alfrik made out of scraps and cast off pieces from the resin buildings.

Unable to make any effective shots at the British Heavy tank the Prussian takes out his frustrations on the nearby pub, leveling it in a single shot. After the battle Oswald Goode, Publican and leader of the local militia was heard to say "Find us a boat lad's. We're taking this fight to the Kaiser!"

This whole campaign is wonderful! There is nothing here that is substandard. Everything from terrain, figures vehicles and narrative is spot-on.

A wonderful series of scenarios with excellent modelling going into them. You have re-inspired me again. Can't wait for the finale either.

And please do give us an update on those building moulds. It looks like you've made some different ones recently, or are those conversions of the existing ones you'd made?
