I'm starting a new project in a Witchfinder General setting. Set in the lovely dank coastal area known as Anglemoor. Anglemoor is a sparsely populated settlement, ruled over by a grim and wicked tyrant. Hugo Musgrove, the Witch Earl of Anglemoor.

A new mat from Killing Fields Terrain. Teddy bear fur commercially died. It makes a lovely moor.

One of a few 17th century buildings I have on hand. I'll be making more as things progress

Wicked beasts prowl the countryside. Barghests some call them. Rumor has it they are servants of Earl hugo. These are Zombie wolves from Gamezone miniatures.

Earl Hugo himself. Hissssss.
Up next perhaps a coven of witches and some dark riders to carry out the Witch Earl's commands.
-
Lovely! Wish I lived close enough to get in a game ;)
-
That is one evil looking Earl
-
Love it! :)
-
Looking forward to see how this progresses.
-
Nice job Scrappy.
-
Very nicely done zombie wolves!
-
"Boo! Hiss!" to the bad guy.
"Hooray!" for our intrepid hero.
Lovely stuff. That first photo is very Hammer Horror movie-like. All we need is Peter Cushing and a corseted Ingrid Pitt. :-*
-
This looks really good. Looking forward to seeing more. It makes me want to revive my Witchfinder General project.
-
Brill :)
-
Lovely stuff, makes me want to get a similar mat like you have :)
-
Great start - love it!
-
Lovely, miniatures and terrain both. Great pallet, dark but still rich.
-
It all looks wonderful a great bit of work.
-
Great stuff! Looking forward to seeing more.
-
Definitely added to my watch list. A great start!
-
That's a very effective sinister paintjob on the Earl's face :)
-
I'll echo the above comments! Figures representing Mr. Cushing and Lee would be a nice touch, but I,m a Caroline Munro man myself.
-
Thanks very much Gents.
You inspired me to what I hope are greater heights. I'm converting a few Reaper minis into witches but you have given me a new idea to convert some figures I've had lying about for a while now:

I'm going to need some more green putty.

I bought these from Antediluvian miniatures. Excellent people with some truly unique creations.

The Witches and Familiars set (in their Medieval Demons line) looks very 17th century.
-
Got to agree with the other posters - this looks terrific.

Witch, witch, where do you fly...

Next up some houses for the village.

Awesome looking project, looking forward to seeing how it progresses. What's the plan for the first witches lantern?
-
Oh you hit a sore point. She is my least favorite. I did a head swap on that one and sculpted hair out of greenstuff. I'm not happy after looking at pictures with how it all came out so I have "removed" the head and am working on a new one. Once that's done I may try and give an effect of reverse illumination from the lamp. Or at least an eerie green light effect.
-
Sometimes it's only when a model has a lick of paint that you have any idea of what it will look like. Personally I quite like the way you depicted her. Bit late now though!
-
cool project :-* :-* :-* :-*
Very appropriate for this time of year
-
The witches are wonderfully well-painted.
-
Nipples!
-
Those Witches are awesome. Inspiring! Thanks!
-
Those dogs on the first page are fantastic! I think I'm going to have to invest in some of those.

Back to work after a bit of a hiatus:
I'll be using the setting for a brace of games at this years Pacificon. A mere weeks away now.
I'll be using Wiley Games Tales of Horror rules, with liberal sprinklings from the Horse and Musket variant as well.
The scenarios are taken fairly straight from the pages of another set of rules: Witchfinder General.
The setting for the first adventure is a village whose Feudal overlord has a less than stellar record of public service and brings new meaning to the term "Human Resources".
To that end I have set myself to bring the small fishing village of "Corleigh by the Moor" to life.
I have a few resin cast adobe buildings I made a long time ago that I'm re-purposing by adding timber framing. I've got two smaller cottages like this and a larger one that will become the village's mill.
In addition I made a pair of larger cottages out of foam core and bass wood strips. All these buildings will be getting thatch roofs eventually.
This shows the planned design for the village. Aside from the new buildings I have one additional existing building I made and a lovely pair of Forge World buildings.
-
Splendid, looking forward to seeing this develop. ;)
FFoL TOH is an excellent ruleset and supplement :D
-
Great looking project. I do like a bit of 17th century horror :)
-
I used an old bath towel for the thatching itself. To get the thick, rounded look of thatch roofs I glued a piece of foam core to the roof's styrene base and rounded the edges with a blade.

-
They look wonderful :)
-
Always fun to see another witchfinder/flintlock horror setup! Looking forward to seeing how your village progresses.
-
Thanks very much. Here is a progress photo of the village.

I'll be painting all the bases next and attaching the wattle fences around most of them.
-
Looking really good. ;D
-
That’s a grand set of real estate. I’m looking forward to seeing the whole village. Great work!
-
I got some time to devote to taking some photos of the miniatures that will be involved in this weekend's game. Almost all these minis were painted with the new contrast paints in the last month. I'm really happy with the way most of the colors work and the way the paint goes on.

I'll be doing a bunch of base painting and grassing in the next two days and It looks like I need to paint that Witchfinders hat too.
Thanks for all the kind comments and suggestions. Hopefully in my next post I'll have photos from the game itself.

Wonderful :-* :-*
-
The games have been played. Two games over the course of Pacificon last weekend. They went very well. I really like running these FFoL rules for a convention crowd. They catch on very easily and play very well.
I've posted a couple pictures of each game and links to the full pages on my blog site.
Game the first: Defending the Village

End result looks great :)
-
Wonderful stuff!
-
They look great!
-
Excellent, the games look like they were a lot of fun. :)
-
Brilliant :o
-
Really came together well :-* :-* :-*
Why did the witches turn into pigs?
-
Demon Spite. I was disappointed in them that the failed to activate to make bombing runs on the attackers.
-
Lovely stuff!
-
Fantastic looking game (pun fully intended). Lovely figures and highly imaginative scenarios.
-
Inspirational stuff. Well done.
-
Lovely looking games, well done.
-
It all ties together very nicely, the figures, the buildings and the terrain. Are the military figures from one manufacture?
-
Thanks very much.
The figures a mix of Foundry Sea Dogs with some conversion work, Perry for the Dragoons and Light cavalry, Warlord for a couple foot characters and the Cuirassier and a small handful of Horcata miniatures.
-
Just a beautiful table. Nicely done
-
Jolly good job Mike. I like the way you've mixed up such an eclectic selection of figures from various ranges to create your groups of protagonists. They all work well together.
