I was in my local big box retailer and ran across these Nano Metal Super Hero figures. They are metal and come pre-painted to a common toy standard. They were about a $1 or so a model and about 35mm or so.
I picked several up and decided to do some simple re-paints for games...

Pretty inexpensive and a wide assortment of designs and styles to make all sorts of Super archetypes.

I've seen them, and they are pretty nice.
Unfortunately, I don't game with "known heroes", and the ones I've seen are so distinctive that I couldn't use them for anything else.
Still, they are $1 metal figures...
I've also seen Harry Potter ones. Which people would like for HP, but a few could easily be used as civilians or pulp characters.

Some GS and some re-painting helps out..... but the Batman ones in particular are pretty obvious without GS work.
Too bad I was too lazy. :)

I have a few of the streetfighter guys. The faces aren't very good and they each have a hefty mould line which would require far more effort to remove than it's worth. But for a $1 they are good enough to practice painting on.
