Heya everyone!
As the title of the thread says, I'm looking for a playmat for the surface of Mars, preferably red sands and rocks, and preferably in either vinyl, or, even better, in mousepad material, neoprene. 4'x4' or 4'x6'.
Ideally, from a US source, as I would prefer to not pay a king's ransom for shipping, but, I'm willing to buy from overseas if I have to.
So far, this is the closest that I've found, but there are a lot of playmat manufacturers out there, and I'm sure that there are many I'm unaware of:

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thank you!

If you are prepared to go abroad, then Deep-Cut Studio has a red planet mat: https://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-red-planet/ (https://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-red-planet/)

OOH, that is very nice! Thank you!
That's one that I haven't seen before.
I'll put a pin in that one - it's very close to what I'm looking for, although something a little redder and sandier would be ideal.

I also thought the Badlands mat might work: https://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-badlands/ (https://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-badlands/)

Cigar Box has a really nice Martian mat. http://cigarboxbattlestore.bigcartel.com/product/red-planet-210-4-x6-plus

Mine is from Deepcut & is mousemat material.
I am very happy with it & their service.

Also worth trying TINYWARGAMES.CO.UK
They do a good selection of mats, mainly cloth.

I have used JoAnn Fabrics felt fabric for gaming mats. I didn't see any red sand color.,The closest I could find was this sale item https://www.joann.com/2-yard-pre-cut-craft-felt-fabric-remnant-tan/16630105.html#q=felt&start=1 (https://www.joann.com/2-yard-pre-cut-craft-felt-fabric-remnant-tan/16630105.html#q=felt&start=1) They do have red felt, but it looks too red.

I like faux suede upholstery cloth, which I get from Joann's fabrics. There is a shade that looks good for Martian reddish sand. It lays down very flat, rolls up nicely, is washable, and doesn't snag like untreated felt does.
The faux suede doesn't look completely monochrome because of the way the texture can be brushed in more than one direction. Still need to scatter a few rocks and sand and terrain features about to make the table surface more interesting.
I would suggest going to the fabric store and looking at and feeling the faux suede upholstery cloth to see if that would appeal to you as a playing surface for Mars.

To also add - Deep Cut may well be able to tweak the above design to be redder, I’ve asked them to tweak designs before. Their service really is excellent.

Thank you all for the suggestions!

You could always make your own :D
This one took me around 3 hours (excluding drying time). Great thing about making your own is you can have exactly the colour you want.
