Anyone used this fella as a proxy for the big guy?

Seems to be a fair size, and is more fierce than the Schleich & Papo toys. Not as big as the Safari toy but price is good!

Not used that one But this one came from a charity shop for 50 pence

Now that's just rubbing my nose in it! lol
Like your set up there.
-
The table and the game both look awesome! What rules do you use?
-
We use our own rules availablr free on the download page http://www.morvalearth.co.uk/Skull%20Island/Skull_Island_Download_Page.htm (http://www.morvalearth.co.uk/Skull%20Island/Skull_Island_Download_Page.htm)

Twas not beauty killed the beast, for hard moulded plastic is immune. Great thread and good looking game. What is more pulp than Skull Island adventures?
-
Now that Figure is really nice.
But I got this one from Reaper a while ago. Metal and more expensive. So I would get the toy one now.

Besides mine is more a Mighty Joe Young style and size.
Reaper minis

All of those look great! I'd happily play in any of your games!

I have considered getting one of these bad boys. Twice the price of my first choice but definitely got the Kong effect:

I saw him as an option on Amazon. The price looks decent and is about half of what my Reaper mini one would cost now.
Looks fairly big and well detailed. But I like to see them in the "Flesh" or plastic in this case.

Hopefully someone has. I would try the Toy's R Us near me. But I am not sure whether they still trade in the UK.
Besides it is a bus ride away for me.
I wonder if anyone on Ebay has a size comparison for it. Like with a rule or something else to give a size comparison.
Off to Ebay!

I think the Reaper one is available in the Bones range now? Could be wrong...

No, there's an Ape Demon and a Chronoscope Ape-X.
Toys R Us are no more in the UK AFAIK, and I've only seen the Papo & Schleich one in the toy shops we do have.
The chest beating ape stands around 20cm apparently.

My fave is by Acheson...just love the pose and facial expression.

He is quite good but price plus shipping from the US, together with the UK's PO handling fee rules him out!
-
Bummer.
Here’s my Kong family...
Left is Safari Ltd., right Acheson. The two juveniles are unknown make, they came from a thrift store. 28mm Jessica Lange for scale... :)

Safari Ltd usually available at Michaels here in USA, with their coupon, should come to about $10-12. Let me know if you’re interesed I could send one your way.

That's generous thanks. Think I'll plump for the chest-beater though!

Well I didn't plump for the chest-beater! In the end I took a punt on the cheap China option, and I'm not disappointed. He's a good size, and although he's hollow he's sturdy. There's a substantial line running below his shoulders, but nothing a little GS won't fix!

Repainted the big guy. Perhaps a little too much blue in the highlights on the face, but all in all I'm pleased with how he turned out:

Great painting on the face.
Most excellent.

Cheers!

Nice paint job, makes me want to strip down to my grass skirt, tie up some fetching blonde thing to some sacrificial posts and chant 'Kong' to the wee hours of the morn. Great stuff.
