Title: Promotions
Post by: necromorph on April 16, 2019, 05:20:08 PM
So just wanna know if i'm doing this right.

My team are ready for a promotion and it states that I can now get up to 15PP, but my team are currently already at 15PP through upgrades, does that mean that I cannot hire any new agents because I'm already at my maximum of 15PP, or does this not include the 7PP worth of upgrades I've earned through levelling up?

Also, does that mean I can't gain any more advancements to the agents as that would take them over 15PP too until I'm promoted again?

It states on page 165 "Lists that have yet to achieve a Promotion may not purchase models or equipment that would the cause the list to exceed 10 Personnel Points and 10 Equipment Points."

While this states "purchase" I would think that you cannot exceed a maximum of 10 PP through advancing before you get to your first promotion anyway. I assume so anyway, and a mistake I think I've made in my solo campaign as I hadn't noticed this limit in the post game phase.

I *think* the idea is that you can gain advances without restriction *but* when you do a reequip you are only allowed to recruit new agents to bring you up to 10pp. And you can’t sack anyone except by giving them the Early Retirement skill after they get three major injuries.

So you can go above the limits through advancement, but can’t recruit anyone else. I seem to remember the idea is kinda that you are likely to end up with less, more experienced and traumatised operatives. It’s supposed to be thematic, representing the loniless and isolation of fighting the mythos.

So, assuming that is right if you have 17pp of dudes with 10ep of equipment if you get promoted after 5 wins when you reequip you don’t have to, and indeed can’t, remove any dudes, but you can bring yourself up to 15ep of equipment.

However, if a 5 point agent is then killed, reducing the team to 12pp, you could then do a re-equip and recruit 3 points of operatives to bring you back up to 15 points.

Right ok. I get that. Thanks. I gotta admit, the rule book doesn't make that too clear, or I'm just missing something.

So im 15PP and 7EP. With my promotion I gain 7 extra EP and keep my agents as they are, but if I ever lose an agent that has increased my EP beyond 15, 15PP is the max i can go to to cover the loss until I'm promoted again.
