Someone clearly had some fun making this photo:

Question:
Has anyone ever game a dinosaur Safari with Teddy Roosevelt? Got pics?
-
Hah!
No, but Irregular Miniatures' Tusk ruleset with the Sir Harry Pack would be perfect:

(I only play Tusk with cavemen and mammoths.)
-
I've played a hunt or two with several notables, including Her Majesty, G'awd bless Her!, but don't think we've had Teddy. I could well be wrong...
Sorry, no piccies.

Wow, I might need to get myself one of those 15mm Sir Harry figures From Irregular Miniatures.
Thanks for that tip. I’d love to hear about other similar figures that could work as stand-ins.
Dan
PS. I found a couple of additional fun pics:

The first picture actually looks quite real.

They really should reboot the Jurassic Park/World franchise and set it around 1900 :)

:)
Thanks for posting the picture CC!

That’s a brilliant idea!

And of course this Wargames Foundry pack from their Darkest Africa range has a very nice Copplestone-sculpted portrait figure of Teddy, which could be posing with a trophy (5th figure from the left)

I have been using my Foundry Theodor Roosevelt in some VSF games before, but not for Dino hunting.
My comment here is more about Tusk!
I have played a lot of Tusk! and while it is great fun with Mammoths and Cavemen, I think it falls flat in dino hunting games.
I did only run one game of Victorian dino hunt, but besides being fun a single time it could hardly be called a game. Maybe we did something wrong, but our game was a bunch of hunters moving down dinosaurs and that was it. The dinos had no chance at all and not a single hunter was killed or even anywhere near to close combat.
For years I have wanted to do a VSF dino hunt, searching for rules, but I never managed to set up any game again.
I would think Saurian Safari or Tooth and Claw would be good rules, but haven't tried it yet (but seeing these pics I really want to).
-
I wondered about darkest Africa rules as they have the big game hunt add on dont they?
-
Anyone seen this?

Brilliant!

Now, if you have Teddy in a lost workd, how wopuld you have him dressed and equiped? Would you go with a Rough Riders type attaire(sans sword) or an English explorer outfit?
I think I might go with the Rough Rider look. No pith helmet, just his wide brimmed hat.
-
For rules you might want to look at THW's The Lost Lands.
-
My thought also.
Who does Rough Riders command on foot, in 15mm? Anyone know?
-
I think TVAG has a 15mm figure, but I'm not sure if it is a mounted or foot figure.
-
Dan I like where your going with this. Some years back I started working on a "Lost World" Theme. I found a container of small dinosaurs.

The size if this seem to work well also
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YLHka0NN5FE/VUwKRSHDkjI/AAAAAAAAA7g/1nltRjTu1_M/s1600/102_0953.jpg)
the figure is one from Peter Pig's line.

Oh and The Scene UK has these guys!

Great for a Lost World or Morlocks for Time Machine traveling!

@ War Monkey - Gotta love a bucket of plastic dino's.

No Teddy I'm afraid, but we put on a Dino Safari game at Broadside last week. Rules were adapted from several rule sets, including Congo. Several factions all inspired by classic films, battling to survive against a Cretaceous menagerie!

Wow, that looks awesome ;D

Love the volcano!

@ Calumma - From your blog post it sounds like everyone had a great time, which afterall is why we do this. I especially loved the "Eaten" board. Great humorous way to keep score.
I,m not familiar with the Congo rules, so any chance you could post your modifications that you made?
-
I have a blog post in prep to do just that!
-
That's great! Looking forward to it.

Calumma,
