I think combing lime through the hair would have meant a single hair colour for everyone. What about their moustaches? :)
I think combing lime through the hair would have meant a single hair colour for everyone.
Well, not quite just one; the dying Celt statue in the Campidoglio is very clearly wearing that hairstyle.
Can’t say what causes more envy in me: the perfectly painting minis or your lovely place to live next to an oppidum!
Great work. Did you find any information about the Aulerci to distinguish them? Customs, organisation, preferred way of fighting etc?
These are really very good. I can only aspire to this skill at painting plaid.
thats a fine job you have done, nice straight lines, got to do mine as i am painting a small Gallic/ Celtic warband
Brian
These look great, nice basing too
Excellent work.
Another unit of the table, again 28mm Victrix Miniatures. Tried some more plaid designs quite happy with the results.

A very good army is obtained. Bright and tasty :) Bravo!
Excellent plaid on these, well done.
Painting all those plaid stripes and designs on Celts is always time consuming, but a lot of fun!
Great work!
Nice project and great paintjob!
Those are crackin’ good plaids. I am green with envy.
Splendid paint jobs on these miniatures Matt...
I remember painting a load of plaid on some Jacobites I am sure it effected my mind....
I started dreaming about Tartan.... o_o o_o :o...
I do hope you are going to have a parade... or whatever the collective term for Gauls is.
All the best. Aly
:-* Very nice ! Would you mind please looking over there for a moment while I jot down that idea for....err....future reference ;)
Nice brushwork on all the Gallic Hordes!
Following with interest now :)
Wow - that's some fantastic painting.
Tony
Incredible line work BW. :o
Wow yeah, that is beautiful work on the plaid :o
Wow :-*
Very nice painting - well done!
They are some very very nice Gauls.
Top stuff Matt :-*

Brian
I'm late coming to this thread and I've just read all six pages! Lovely work on all of them.
Is there any chance of seeing them together?
Very nice! More flannel than a Kurt Cobain concert.
Just back in from the Shed after sorting out my next project and I thought that I'd have a look at this thread. Very happy that I did. Tremendous work sir.
As always Matt, top job. You must have a fair few Gauls now.
I reckon it's your best work Matt. I look forward to seeing them all set up - an impressive horde. I can't think of too many armies harder to pull together than the Celts - all that individualism and plaid work. Makes me want to add another warband to my lot.
Very nice indeed Matt. You must have hundreds of the buggers now. Where's the opposition?
Look forward to seeing them all together.
That’s an excellent looking horde you’ve got coming together there ! I can only imagine what they will look like all together
Very cool army. It's particularly nice to see a project so focused on a specific regions with some local historical input too. Great job.

Another fine looking collection of warriors Matt.
some fantastic painting there
Brian
Lovely as always, Matt! I must admit, I've been putting off working on my Galatian unit because the thought of painting all the plaid is giving me anxiety lol
