Title: Nick's ACW draft rules
Post by: nicknorthstar on May 22, 2019, 08:58:15 PM
I've been playing a lot of 28mm ACW recently. Most recently it's been a set of rules adapted from Chris Peers' Death in the Dark Continent.

I don't plan to publish these, but I'm keen to polish them up into something I'm happy with.

Please have a go, and let me know what you think, any suggestions from people who've pushed some figures around with them welcome.

They are written in brief, and will make sense to players familiar with DitDC, some parts may seem odd if you've not played. Feel free to ask any questions on game play.

Cheers
Nick

Very interesting, I like that they will accommodate 28mm on a 6' x 4'.

A D20 for combat is also interesting, I am always unsure about D10 or D20 combat due to the wild swings of dice, put perhaps here the number of modifiers add a fair bit of influence, something to check out anyway.

I am also interested in the 6" range for smoothbore musket when set against potential movement rates, so again, see how that pans out.

I note that artillery with 4+ markers can't move, other than by manhandling,

does that mean that in relation to the 5 markers plus causing automatic retirement, that that movement is just made at the man handling rate?

I like the look of what is going on, so will give these a spin, thanks for posting them.

Yes, the automatic retire has to be manhandling. & they can't fire while moving, though at -5 to hit, they aren't too effective anyway.
