Time to put those random, cool Sci-fi miniatures to work.
HARDWIRED is a fast-play, Co-op skirmish game for 15-28mm miniatures. Pick a mission, create a team of Agents, grab your mirrorshades, and go.
Now available at Amazon and Wargame Vault. Print version on the way.

Sounds interesting! Any news about the core system? D6 based? D10? How do your figures activate? Do you include scenarios?
-
Couldn't be happier for you to get this published! It's great work on good ol' cyberpunk. Big thumbs-up!
-
Any plans of adding shadowrun style characters and magic/psy powers ?
-
Thanks November. Commissioned the cover and interior art, polished up the initial version and put it out myself. Kicked it out the door and hollered for it to write if it found gainful employment.
Regarding the Dice Mechanics:
HARDWIRED uses four types of polyhedral dice: D4, D6, D8, and D10. The D4 Die is used exclusively for H-SEC spawning at the game’s Arrival Locations. The D6, D8 and D10 are used in game to determine the success of a model’s actions. For Agents, these three dice constitute their Dice Pool. These dice are used over the course of the Agent’s activation to attempt Actions and the Dice Pool is renewed every turn. The die types can be used in any order the player desires, however each type can only be used once.
THE DICE POOL, ACTIONS, AND DIMINISHING POSSIBILITIES
Except for special circumstances, Agents are allowed Three (3) Actions per Phase. The Target Number to perform an Action successfully is a 4+. To act, simply declare the intended Action (Move, Shoot, Activate CAP, etc) select one of the die types in the Dice Pool and try for a 4+, accounting for modifiers and penalties. Every 4+ is a Success. Less is a Failure.
To represent the stress and diminishing possibilities in a tense, frenetic combat situation, each Die Type can only be used once. One chance with a D10, one with a D8, and one with a D6. That’s it. Although Specialization Protocols permit an Agent to roll two of a given die type in certain circumstances, the Die Type can only be used once per AGENT PHASE. In either case, once the Agent’s Dice Pool is depleted, they can no longer act that Game Turn. This means Agents must prioritize their intended actions and allocate whichever Die Type they feel gives them the best chance at success. Die types do not have to be used in any particular order.
TWO DICE BONUS
Most action rolls are attempted with a single die type, however certain Agents stand a better chance at succeeding at certain Actions, ones linked to their Specialization Protocol. Depending on their SP, Agents can roll TWO dice of a particular type and choose the best result when attempting certain actions. This ‘Two Dice’ bonus also applies to activating those specific Combat Augmentation Programs related to their area of expertise.
All this really means is that while all Agents can attempt any Action or try to activate a CAP, a Razor is far more deadly in a Close Combat situation, and when it comes to hijacking the Cerberus security drone that just stomped into the room, you’ll be thanking the Dark Net loa you’ve got a decent Splicer at your side.
Shadowrun characters and Psy powers - Want to tread softly there. There is a new class of Agent tho, the psionic-power "Shiver", so it's an easy tweak to put characters in Seattle or Night City.
-
I applaud anyone who has the guts to put their own stuff out there for the world to see. Well done.
Wish you good luck and even better sales. :D
-
Thank you. I know it won't be for everyone and not everyone is going to appreciate it. That's how it goes.
It is a fun game though. Quick, straightforward, able to accommodate just about any kind of SF fig. Something for when you're short on time and want an excuse to stat out whatever cool figs you have. There's no book keeping, no clutter - just you and your buddies working together to accomplish the mission.
-
Awesome mate, I will surely buy this. Love what you're doing. And you mentioned a printed version...so a printed version through Wargamesvault? I bought a printed version of Urban Manhunt through Wargames Vault and I REALLY liked the result. So if that's the idea then I'll wait for that one.
-
Thank you.
Actually, print versions of pdfs at Wargame Vault has much different standards/formatting requirements than Amazon. I don't have InDesign and I spent my budget on the covers and interior art, so for now, it's Amazon for the softcover.
-
PM me if I can help you out. Fiddling around in Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator is my job and I'll gladly help!
-
How many and what type H-Sec models does one need for baseline play?
ETA on physical copy?
Love your work man, read all your books.
-
Thank you very much.
Suggested Number/Type of Miniatures:
Five Agents (one for each type)
Eight Class 1/D6 Hostile Security
Four Class 2/D8 Hostile Security
Four Class 3/D10 Hostile Security
Optional: Two H-Sec Agents
Soft Cover should be available at Amazon in a day or two.
Printed version is available now:

Thanks.

Sample Agent Profile
(https://stalker7.files.wordpress.com/2019/06/dscf3827.jpg?w=1000)
Dirt-poor, orphaned at age 11, living on the streets from then on, Isaac is still considered lucky; he grew up in a Lower New Kowloon rim precinct – one of the districts situated at the edge of the mega-city that gets natural sunlight.
Slight, smart, quick on his feet, tech-savvy, it’s no surprise Isaac was drawn toward cyberspace to hustle out a living. Not just to survive either, but to escape the filth and violence of LNK’s gutter punks and street species.
A bona fide Splicer, Isaac runs with the Blue Rose crew and is never seen without his heavily modded Korean Robotics Industries ‘Dokakaebi ‘ drone and his custom, smart-linked Lebedev PL-23 pistol.
While he does have a regular crew, he’s not adverse to side work. Log into the Totchka Darknet Market and post a message at marrowroad39 with details. If it scans, someone will be in touch.

Thanks.
Interesting and cheap ! The only issue I see is the lack of shadowrunesque features. Not really an issue except for me since I have a quite big collection of ral partha official shadowrun minis and I'm still looking for rules to play them. If anyone make house rules for it, I'll probably buy the game then. :-*
edit : by the way I have a few more questions about the game :
how the hacking works ?
does the game include missions and campaign system with character improvement ? RIsks of becoming amock/cyber zombie if too much chrome ?
-
Hate to disappoint yet again but Hardwired is a light skirmish game. Quick firefights, straightforward rules. It's meant to get all those random cool SF figs on the table at your weekly game night or club. Fun, but mostly one-shots. There's a bit of fluff, a sample mission, and some starter ideas, but I figured players come up with their own settings and campaign stories anyway. So why pad the book with it?
Agents are pretty amped up right out of the gate, so advances would put them over the top. Hacking is focused on tactical uses like overloading H-SEC drones or over riding security. Any Agent can attempt it but a Splicer stands a better chance.
-
Daft question I have had a look on amazon.uk and there isn't a print option on there, would I have to order from the states? Or is it just that its a new release and needs to filter down?
Did you include some campaign rules, as I remember a discussion in your previous thread?
Well done on getting it released its a great little game!
-
Found out my Amazon account still had a gift card...so ordered it with the most expensive shipping :D. Can't wait to get it and try it.
-
Thanks Mal. Much appreciated. (I'll pm you this weekend regarding InDesign formatting too)
N1S1 - There is a starter mission, as well as a handful of scenario ideas, but I avoided Improvements, Skill Trees, Advancements, and the like. That was intentional. Agents are pretty amped up from the start; a few games, a couple advances, and the missions would be boring as hell with hyper-chromed Agents steamrolling over the opposition.
For now, the game centers on individual scenarios where players construct the team they think stands the best chance at accomplishing the mission. I could release a Scenario supplement later if there's interest, but I'm of the opinion most gamers are well able to create their own. Hardwired is a framework, an excuse to stat out those assorted cool SF miniatures in their collection and game that scene that's been percolating in the back of their mind.
Regarding the print version at Amazon.UK, I think it should filter down in a couple days. It's available on the US site now. But don't quote me on that - I'm not certain how Amazon International would deal with my little indie pubbed rule book.
-
I will wait until it comes onto amazon.uk then. Gives me an excuse to make and paint up some models for now!
It has always annoyed me how highly trained troops in campaigns somehow improve over little skirmishes I will probably just use the campaign framework from black ops.
Didn't realise that you had novels published as well, have to look into those!
-
I think a dramatic narrative that lets you string a set of linked missions together would be great.
Start with three Agents of any kind then add a "financial" credit when accomplishing mission objectives. Those would then allow you to hire new/different kinds of Agents to cover any losses and improve your tactical options. That'd work.
For an added challenge, bump the number of H-SEC troops arriving each turn by 1 or 2 when deploying more than 4 Agents.

I bought my copy off Amazon UK today. Under £8.00, available with Prime delivery.

Thank you. I suggest you start with a couple of my later short stories. Try 'A Prayer to St. Strelok', 'Hard Kill', 'Z6: Enemy of my Enemy', or 'The Stones Remember'.
I think it was Stephen King who said every writer who is stubborn enough to keep writing reaches a point where they want to buy up every copy of their first novel so no one will ever read it.
-
Just grabbed a copy off of amazon! Don't have prime but grabbed a copy of one of the books for my favourite scifi rpg so got free postage that way. Also downloaded a sample of A Prayer to St. Strelok to my kindle. Looks like I was a little too keen!
-
Just ordered a copy, real paper of course :-*

Thanks Storm Wolf.
Do most folks prefer hard copies? I'll buy a pdf of rules but if the game is going to be played frequently, I need/want a print version. Do you think that's common or is it an age thing?
-
Personaly I prefer paper. When I buy a pdf ruleset, I print it, and keep the pdf on my 10" tablet.
-
I'll print out short pdfs but wind up buying hard copies of anything longer than 50 pages.
BTW N1S1, what is your favorite Sci Fi rpg?
-
Personally it depends upon my keenness for the rule set, I will often purchase a pdf then later a paper copy if I am likely to use the ruleset. A good example is RPGs quite often when ordering a book you can get a pdf of the rules discounted or free this helps when bringing it to the table.
Currently I am GMing the W.O.I.N (what's old is new) New system. Its a d6 based system based around dice pools, it has similar character creation to traveller in that you choose your race then upto so many character careers based upon the 'level' of the character, then a few exploits to flavour the character. There are different flavours of scifi included in the rulebook from hard scifi to science fantasy. It's well worth a look http://www.woinrpg.com/ they do two other ruleset Old which is fantasy and Now which is modern all of which are cross compatible. The books are amazon print on demand and range from a small pocket version to a hardback full colour version. My group uses my black and white softback version and the small pocket version for players to leaf through.

Thanks Storm Wolf.

Hi Denatus, for me it's an age thing i think? I just prefer having a book to flip through. I have and use PDFs but I prefer good old tree matter in paper form😂

Even if you're not very old, reading on a device (tablet, computer) just kills your eyes because of the backlight, and you have to zoom in most of the time.
The only device I really read on is my ebook kindle, wich has a screen made for reading. I read all my books (novels) on it now.
Once they will make an affordable, color ebook (with real e-ink), I will stop printing rules.
-
I have a Kindle Fire which is fine for scanning documents, quick web browsing and such. Reading at any length tho, I need something with an Etch-A-Sketch screen. (non-backlit) Like I said, if it's going to be actually played, I get a print version. Used, if possible.

A delay starting our next RPG campaign meant we got to throw together a Hardwired mission. Rescue the kittens and upload digital graffiti!

Beautiful stuff, love that gritty cityscape. Thanks for sharing.
-
Thank you. Cyberpunk is a great game setting and the PlastCraft buildings make it easy to set up a good looking table.
BTW, Hardwired is now available in print at WargameVault. Special thanks for Malebolgia for all his work with the print formatting.

Thanks for that also, have it on my wishlist for my next order.

New weapons, new gear, new threats, new missions. Coming soon-ish.

Sweet :D
Looking forward to it.
Will the cover art be included as well?
-
It's part of the ebook at Amazon but I'll be sure to include it in the pdf at WGV.
-
...but I'll be sure to include it in the pdf at WGV.
Cool :D
Have you done that with the main rules as well?
If so I have to update my download ;)
-
Any plans of a shadowrun-ish expansion ?
-
I updated the electronic files at WGV yesterday, adding a cover and a couple clarifications.
Regarding a Shadowrun type expansion - it's a cool idea but would require a heavy reworking of what is essentially a generic 'beer-n-pretzels' game. There's no reason you can't house-rule traits for the fantasy races, tweak Movement, Dodge/Defense, and the like, but you're talking another separate book that would most likely take Hardwired beyond its original intent and limited scope.
Reality's Edge might have room to do the thought justice, and CGL is hopping aboard the recent cyberpunk surge and releasing a new edition, so there's going to be plenty of other options.
-
Awesome, just downloaded it :D
-
...... and CGL is hopping aboard the recent cyberpunk surge and releasing a new edition, so there's going to be plenty of other options.
I assume you refer to the 6th edition of the RPG? or have you information on the presumed abandoned Sprawl Gangers game?
-
Sorry, was referring to the RPG 6th ed.
Sprawl Gangers made a big noise then dissipated and passed unmentioned - like a fart in church.

Last I heard (a couple of years ago now) was that it was on hold because CGL found making miniatures too difficult???
I assume that was a convenient excuse as they just ignored any comments along the lines of "....I've got minis just get the rules out...." and put what ideas they did have into a crap card/boardgame instead.
