Title: Cthulhu / Star Spawn WIP
Post by: PhilH on June 09, 2019, 01:43:36 PM
Inspired by too much Arkham Horror and a Lovecraft audio book, I’m beginning work on a Star Spawn Miniature. Maybe even might Cthulhu, with a Lilliput Lane type base?

Ok, I'm liking where this is going so far. Looking forward to further developments on this, and am hoping that this is just the beginning of an extended line of Mythos figured. I know, there's a lot out there right now but you can never have too many, and I enjoy seeing the different interpretations all the way back to the original Grenadier line. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I’m definitely up for making more Lovecraftian Horror Miniatures and also putting my own interpretation of the descriptions. It’ll keep me busy for a very long time I think too :)

Some more progress on my Cthulhi / Star Spawn. You can see how it finally look. Still a lot of work on the wings to do, then the feet and hands.

Love the crawling pose, it's very different from the usual fayre.

Thank you. The part Dragon element of his description resonated with me and that he ‘slinks’ into the water in Call of Cthulhu.
I’m planning a scenic base option, with a tiny lighthouse on a rocky outcrop, he’ll be glaring right into it :)

Finally finished my Star Spawn mini. He’s 40mm to the highest point excluding the wings, so not too massive.
I’m going to add him to my upcoming Kickstarter as a stretch goal.
Some tweaking to do then I’ll put him into silicone for Resin casting and then paint :)

Thank you. I’ve just made a resin copy, so I can get to work painting him. Trying to decide how to theme the base.

What resin is that?  I have sculpted up some Starspawn variations myself and would like to cast up some in that!  Thanks in advance.

It’s Smooth On Part 66D. One of the best resins I’ve tried. Slightly flexible and grey coloured too.

Hey, I've used that.  Agreed, good stuff.
