Title: (Kickstarter) 25th October. Lord Cireneg's City
Post by: beefcake on August 31, 2019, 12:43:09 AM
I've been working on getting a bustling city going for my next kickstarter project. Here is some of the stuff I've done so far. Fit together in a modular way to create it in the way you'd like.
Here's a link (https://www.facebook.com/deviousgames/videos/385175378815068/) to it a video of it on facebook
Picture first though.

You just keep getting better!

My poor poor battered wallet  :(

When do you think you might bring this to KS?

lol, sorry.
I feel my skills are getting better and better. Even doing my own renders now :)

I'm hoping 4-6 weeks but I have a lot to do in that time. Bell tower and inn are the remaining things plus revising a few bits here and there, and then beds and tables and perhaps some other little bits and pieces.

Oh, yes!

You really are getting rather too good at this lark.

Nicely done  :)

Thanks both. Those has been a rather boring process as it is a lot of the same. But the results are worth it.

Interesting looking buildings! Are you going to be selling the 3d files or the completed actual structures? (both?)

Note that images on FB like you've done don't always show up reliably. I can't see them here on LAF but if I grab the image addresses I can see them in a new tab. FB is an unreliable image host.

I'll just be selling the files. I only have 2 printers (a big one and a little one that came free) all my printing time is spent prototyping so its more economical to just spend the time on STL files. Thanks for the heads up about FB image hosting.

Those do look magnificent, tempting me into this 3D printing lark.

Yeah, they look great! A superb reason to get into 3d printing. What is the best (and hopefully not overly expensive) 3d printer setup to get?

Post by: beefcake on September 04, 2019, 07:01:26 AM
That's high praise indeed! Thanks.
I have a more expensive than usual printer as it allows me to spend more time suclpting and printing rather than calibrating as it does all that itself but I hear good things about the Ender3. There are quite a few threads on here about 3d printing.

More work on this has been completed. I've pretty much finished the Belltower. I just need to add attaching pieces so that it can attach to other city pieces. (I'll probably do it so it can be by itself as well).

Progress on the inn. The last element for the kickstarter.
Pretty happy with how it is going. Lots of fiddly bits to do in it as well that you can't even see in the final piece for connections etc.
I have 1 more floor to go which is for rooms for guests, it will be stackable so you can make the inn as high as you want. Then the roof and it is done!
Actually that is quite a bit of work. Luckily it is school holidays so I can power through this stuff.

I'm in. When do these hit KS?

Cheers Mason. It's great fun making this thing, the regular buildings got a hit monotonous though.

Baron, I'm hoping to start within a month but still have to see how this inn goes before beginning.

Oh thanks. Sorry I didn't notice a reply here :) In the latest update there is a test file to download. I forgot to pop it in the update and edited the update after submitting so it isn't in the emails but is in the main page.
For those that want to know, it has reached 16K so a bunch of stretch goals have been unlocked. Only 1 week down at the moment, 3 weeks and 2 days to go!

Looks pretty fab there... out of curiosity, would I be able to produce these pieces with an entry level 3D printer, like Ender 3 Pro?

Could you guestimate roughly how much it would cost to print that Inn for example (cost of filament & electricity), and how long would it take to print it? I am trying to resist the urge to get me a 3D printer and this isn't helping... lol

lol, You have to give in.
Lots of people have printed my previous stuff on an Ender 3 Pro. I can't remember how much filament I used on the Inn as I had to do various prototypes etc. Somewhere around US$30 I imagine.

thnaks beefcake, there's several Black Friday deals now locally, so I think I will order the Ender 3 Pro... ;D

I think it's time to try my hand with 3D printers... ordering resin terrain from abroad is getting more and more expensive, postage is really killing my enthusiasm in most cases.

I agree. That's why I started doing this. I wanted a wizard tower for Sellwords and Spellslingers and made my own then decided to sell it.

Thanks. :)
I learned off you tube tutorials (and then a Udemy Course) I think I've come a long way since my first wizard tower.
And a couple of pictures of the alternate rooftop.

If you don't mind me asking, what software do you design these in?

I use blender to design these. It's free which is right in my price range ;)
And thought I'd add another picture.
