I’ve seen Gorgon Miniatures Greek partisans, just wondered if any other Partizan figures particularly suitable?
-
Crusader perhaps?
-
What do you mean by militia? To my mind it’s suggestive of an organised, typically uniformed force.
If you mean guerillas/partisans/banditti then you’ll find some useful figures in the old Foundry line. IIRC Black Tree have some useable figures and if you are prepared to file or clip magazines or if you aren’t especially bothered by the weapons then Eureka has some lovely Soviet Partisans in civilian dress. I use them for pretty much every force or occasion in the early 20thC that requires armed civvies.

Yes, partisans please, any suggestions?

Thanks chaps,
So you think these will pass as Greek?
The foundry ones look suitably Mediterranean.

I will spoil it a little. Some of the Artizan's ones wear the mono which was not common here.
Most of the partizans wear some kind of uniform or civil style clothing.
a good source is the following blog

which has some interesting colourized photos. I particularly like this one:

Sorry the captions are in Greek, but I think that google translator might help. If you need any help please do not hesitate to contact.
Gorgon miniatures is mostly suitable for resistance in Crete and battle of Crete. Foundry are suitable. For added variation try to make convertions, headswaps etc. Suitable also SCW bodies.

and I forgot. You may also use a couple of Greek helmets from Burns miniatures Greek infantry

I'd also look at ranges of Italians and Romanians- any with a cap, sidecap, fez or beret would do. The guerillas increased their activity after '43, and captured italian weapon and uniform stocks featured rather heavily. There was also a certain amount of regional variation, for example most photos I've seen of ELAS guerillas in Epirus show them wearing visored caps, either captured italian ones or at least closely modelled on them (heck, you could throw in some Afrika Korps in greatcoats and caps and they wouldn't be far off the mark!). The British also supplied battledress and some weapons, but the ammo pouches typically weren't, or at least they do not seem to feature heavily in photos- maybe some commandos would fit the bill. Also look at Spanish Civil War figures, again for folks in sidecaps and berets.
Unfortunately 28mm is not my scale so I can't point to specific ranges that would be most suitable.
