I like the Buffs but have gone for the Queens Royal Regt. :)

I used to visit the Buffs museum in Canterbury when I was a kid, so I ticked them.

Cheers for the responses so far

Just to confuse matters further I've finished a 3rd figure as a member of the 35th Regt of Foot, with orange facings. I'm no doubt over thinking things here, but I'm looking for the best colour combination from an aesthetics perspective. Which facing colour gives the best colour contrast while remaining harmonious. (The 35th Foot later become the Sussex Regt, and so again lineage to the Queens Regt in which I served. I did think the orange of the 35th would be too close to the redcoat for effective visual effect but now I'm not so sure ???

I promise no more facing colour options ;)

The orange facings work well too but still the Queens Regt for me. :)

From a purely aesthetic point of view, I'd go for either blue or orange facings myself.

Broke out the green stuff and sacrificed a precious trooper, who is now an ex-trooper!

Quite pleased with this and that I've managed to disguise the original pose (well I think I have!)

They all look great to me. Why can't you do all three?

Great sculpting and conversion on the casualty.

You are going to need all three eventually, and you've made a start on all of them now, so get painting!
 ;)

While I’d love to do all three there is a plan for these guys already, with the unit they are forming being 42 strong. Three times that is a lot of Redcoats.

and some real progress as long last, with the first two platoons from the 35th Regiment of Foot completed. Lovely figures from Galloping Major. Just another four platoons and the command stand to go

Beautiful painting on those GM figures.  I seem to remember reading ,in the dim and distant , that the 35th were originally called the Belfast Regiment and were connected with the Prince of Orange hence the facings . Your Queens Regiment facings are showing a greenish blue on my screen which is odd . Anyhow your figures are superb, I would have voted for the 3rd Buffs , btw.  :)

I'll look forward to seeing the finished regiment.  That will be sometime around mid-2022 or so, right?   lol

Cheers for all the comments Gents

I've had a number of queries regarding the 35th's casualty, and where he was purchased from. This figure is a simple rework of the Galloping Major figure that is using his ramrod.
I filed the front of the figure down to get a flatish surface for him to lie on, and removed the rest of the musket. Chopped off the left arm and right hand and replaced them with green stuff. Splayed his feet a bit and bent his head down with pliers - et volia !

Plus a scratch built musket of course.

Yep for the period the Queens Regt facing is described as Sea Green - Pantone colour 100C0M50Y40K and yes the Regt was originally the Earl of Donegals Regt, aka The Belfast Regt (1701)

I may still do some additional figures as the Buff , as being an East Kent based ex Queensman the connection is very strong.
