Title: Plastic 28mm zombies - who does them?
Post by: aliensurfer on November 01, 2019, 12:20:38 PM
Who does plastic zombies now? I know Wargames Factory did, and then Warlod did for their Project Z game, but I missed out on those and need a fair amount of zombies now, but I don't want/need to be buying lots of individual types (as lovely as some of the metal ranges are) - this needs to be done on the cheap  :D

Studio miniatures does a plastic zombie sprue, it's quite limited 4 bodies with 8 head options and 6 pairs of arms, but pretty cheap though

Mantic Games do both zombies and ghouls sets and the bits can be mixed with each other and other ranges for variations and conversions.

Studio do 60 male zombies for £30 https://www.studiominiatures.com/shop/zombies/zombie-plastics-boxset-60-miniatures-533.html (https://www.studiominiatures.com/shop/zombies/zombie-plastics-boxset-60-miniatures-533.html)

Fireforge has a new fantasy set.  Looks like they are heroic scale.

Nice thing is that the parts should fit other manufactures plastics better than the studio.

Thank you, I think I'd be happy to mix all those manufacturers together seeing that shot.

Heroclix, Horrorclix and Mage Knight have some good offerings to help add a bit of variety, most of which are pretty cheap from resellers.

Off the top of my head, take a look for Zombie Lawyer, Hard Hat Zombie and Zombie Cheerleader, but there are more.

Zombicide's Walk of the dead boxes contain 24 zombies each and can usually be found on the cheap. Specially the first ones.
They have a few different boxes available so you can add variety to your encounters.

Mantic currently had a pack of zombies in their black friday deals. You get 50 random zombies, a truck, four vehicles and some scenery for 40quid.. https://www.manticgames.com/games/crazy-basement/black-friday-zombie-apocalypse-box/

They went out of stock between me clicking "add to cart" and clicking "view cart"...

And now its back in stock!
Got one mainly for the scenery, and zombies are always nice to have.

The mantic “fantasy” zombies are really useful to fill out a horde....

Also, I know you asked about plastic, but I wouldn’t discount any left over metal minis you’ve got lying around...doesn’t really matter what period they are from....slap a bit of Tamiya Clear Red gore on them, and they will sit well in the centre of a horde base.

I know you said plastic, but don't discount metal and the amount of time you having remaining.

Victory Force sells metal zombies, with many many varieties.   $2.50 for a zombie that you don't have to spend 20 minutes gluing together is nice.

The plastic zombie may only cost $1.25, but calculate how much your work pays you an hour.   A $1.25 zombie could cost $11.25 if you count the time investment.

Our time on earth is finite, before we become sleeping dead.

Nailed it! The time spent gluing and cleaning up plastic parts is way longer than the time spent cleaning up a metal mini.

But also you could buy a few boxes of Zombiecide zombies. They are one piece plastic and paints up rather nice.

Zombicide might be even cheaper, with 2nd edition replacing first.

I have a copy for sale for $20, if you're in the SF Bay Area!
