Title: Pics of Old Glory WOTR and Italian Wars ranges?
Post by: Charlie_ on November 03, 2019, 10:52:53 PM
The Old Glory website is no help - the pics they have there are pretty much useless.

There are several packs I want to see close up pics of, and importantly how they scale with the Perry WOTR range.

First off - the Swiss Pikemen, which seem to be early Italian Wars (perfect for Fornovo!) I've decided I actually REALLY like the look of these, especially the armoured ones.... SUCH a shame they are all in identical poses, and no front rankers with lowered pikes either.... Still, I'm thinking the armoured ones would make good standard bearers. This it the only pic on the Old Glory site....

I've seen some great painted ones on the chrisfigurines blog, but no side-by-side comparisons with the Perrys.

And from the same Italian War range, these ones look interesting....

Italian Infantry (spear and shield?)

Crossbowmen

And then from their Wars of the Roses range....

Flemish pikemen

And the longbowmen, crossbowmen, handgunners and artillery crews might be of interest....

Do the WOTR and Italian Wars ranges scale together?

Anyway, if anyone has ANY pics of these close up, painted or not, has experience (and perhaps pics) of how they scale with the Perry range... I'd love to see it. Strange that i struggle to find pics of these figures - does no one use them???

Hello Charlie
I have put my Old Glory together with both Foundry and Perry and i works really well. I dont have any closeups at the moment but I have put in a pictures from our Christmas game last year. Front rank bases are Foundry, second rank Old Glory and third rank Perry

I have had plan for taking some pictures of these pike units for some time, but have been tied up in other projects.

Cheers
Erik

By just taking a quick glimpse at the arm ours offered by the Old Glory  and Foundry Swiss I can tell you that the OG armours are mean't for a slightly later time period then that of Foundry. Luckily it's only a matter of a decade or so and shouldn't really effect mixing them up.

The Foundry range was specifically designed by Dave Andrews for the fighting Charles the Bold's Compagnie d'ordonnance Army roughly 1475- 1477 whilst the OG range is set for The Great Italian Wars starting in 1495.

Despite this, it wouldn't stop me from mixing the ranges is I wanted to.
