As I am grinding away at my Star Wars Legion scenery, this is a perfect opportunity to create another piece of scatter terrain.
I'm thinking of a speeder or small ship skeleton that has been stripped down after a crash from when Mason has been driving it. ;)

lol

I hope this doesn't break any rules, but to whet the appetite, here is a previous wreck I have made which my new piece may compliment.

It's a crashed spaceship that has been stripped to the skeleton, partially buried and now being reclaimed by nature with the interior now a lively pond.
-
It's beautiful...
-
No it is not against the rules. That's quite a build. You instill great expectations fr your new build.
-
:o :-* Wow ! That’s some ace build going on right there ! Going to really enjoy watching your wrecked speeder come together
-
Cheers all, fear is a great motivator!
-
So here is my initial sketch for what I have envisaged.
Sooo, my rambling thoughts regarding building a wreck/ruin, I think that to make something look good as a wreck you have to build it fully but with all the 'bones' in so that the layers can be peeled back. That being said, this approach is so much harder than just building a shape so I've set myself a silly amount of work. ::)
Here is the initial cut, as it were creating the first few pieces and ribs for my speeder.
Next step is to start roughing out the ribs and some panels and working out the base.
-
Wow! Great start, I'm liking where this is going! 8)
-
looking good will you make me one as well?
-
“ I think that to make something look good as a wreck you have to build it fully but with all the 'bones' in so that the layers can be peeled back. ”
Yes ,yes and yes to all of that....a very promising start
-
great start

I can send you a starter kit. A sheet of plastic, a few 10A scalpel blades and a packet of plasters! :D
-
Off to a great start

it will need to be a big packet lol

Next update, just a smidge of progress.
Now I've got a sheet of blue stuff to start laying out the base, which will be mounted on hardboard for protection. Also adding in the reason for it to have crashed.
Model away and I've used a sharpie to start scratching out ideas for basic lines and areas to dig in.
Possibly going to put in a squished Gonk for fun.
Now starting to build the sponsons, which currently look suspiciously solid. Hmmm.
-
Beautiful smooth lines :-* :-* :-*
-
I love it! Very clean and beautiful parts
-
Cracking idea and execution :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
:-* I’m already convinced and you’re only just getting underway!
-
Oooh. :-*
-
I love it! Very clean and beautiful parts
Flatterer!
Beautiful smooth lines :-* :-* :-*
Cheeky! :o
Thanks for the support gents. Now a small update.
A terrible photo not showing the progress very well but there are exposed ribs at the rear and the underside has begun being filled in.
The other sponson being clad (my phone really can't focus.)
The required greeblies are now being gathered to start populating the exposed areas.
And a printed doo-hickey for the speeder to crash into, the top section will have a pole or scaffold to be crumpled and squish the Gonk.
-
Looking very flash(crash)!
-
Greeblies AND doo-hickies !....that’s some very nice construction going on there...very slick indeed 8)
-
Great looking greeblies and a dandy doo-hickey
8)
-
Very nice. This is going to be a real looker.
-
A small update with slightly better pictures.
I've started adding some details to the sponsons where the engines and internals have been exposed and an opened hatch showing the subframe.
Here is the other side, slightly behind in details but this will be the raised and more exposed side and so should have more panels off.
-
More progress-ish.
Started carving up the foam for the base and putting the speeder into roughly the right position so I can start the caved in cockpit.
Because it annoyed me before, a better picture of the opened rear area.

Liking the damage so far :-* :-* :-*
And the detail is lovely

seconded ;D

This is great,almost a shame it’s wrecked :)
-
Some very tasty details there....and VERY tidy construction...really enjoying watching this come together
-
Thanks for all the support gents, it really does help.
This is great,almost a shame it’s wrecked :)
What luck I have one with a more careful driver I've been making alongside the crashed one! ;)
Said careful driver.

WOW :-* :-* :-*
-
WOW :-* :-* :-*
Oh yes!

Damas, have you posted your before? I feel I must have missed out...
-
Thats looking great, mate! :-*
-
Damas, have you posted your before? I feel I must have missed out...
You mean the flying banana? No, I've been building it alongside the crashed one to test shapes so I haven't posted it anywhere else per the competition rules.
Cheers everyone.
-
Wrong scale ;D
-
Wow...great work....and the damage on the wrecked one is :-*
-
:-* wow. Any point to competing anymore? ;)
-
Wrong scale ;D
Back in yer box, Godzilla.
:-* wow. Any point to competing anymore? ;)
Gods, yes. I'm not gonna win. :) Too many talented bastards out there (and Jim).
Another weekend, more fiddly bits. I've joined both halves with some bracing and added many little bits that will go mostly unseen.
Damaged area and broken panels, there will be lots of abrasion and cuts to show it skidding.
The rear area, mostly scavenged out.
T'other side showing another stripped out area and an engine.
The more intact side with loosened panels and access points, more greeblies to be applied even though the interior is quite packed already.
-
That's some great work. :o
-
I really like the details, well done. :)
-
Start of the weekend, start of another update!
Starting to begin the composition, working on final placements of things and what needs additional TLC.
Filling in the cockpit and adding the chairs, I need to find a decent poseable skeleton to strap into the pilots chair to showcase the errors of dangerous flying.
Roughing up some pieces to give texture.
Smoke and skid lines along here.
I'm thinking of putting a few small components discarded around here.
-
That looks great !....the way you have made the skid marks in the ground makes the entire scenario self explanatory - fantastic :-*
-
What a great update - can’t wait to see this one painted
8)
-
That's a bit bloody good Kev. Great plastic card work. 8)
-
Cheers gents, your support does help a lot.
Here is a small update on the cockpit, many things are approaching the undercoat and paint stage so the updates will run out soon.
Pedals, control sticks and seat position, pilot still to add. 😉
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/43/4157-260120203045.jpeg)
-
Very nice indeed 8)
-
Brilliant ! :-*
-
Lovely details
What are you going to do for the windscreen?
-
Lovely detail work.
-
Lovely details
What are you going to do for the windscreen?
I'm thinking of a flexible sheet of clear plastic with a cracked hole for the pilot head to go through. :D
-
Superb work,looks great.
-
Wow, really impressive work. Excellent build so far!
-
Oh, this is already looks great, I love the details on it. :-*
-
Great stuff :)
-
Great stuff 8)
-
Looking good!
-
That is really impressive detail.
-
I'm going to have to fold at the eleventh hour as I've been in Poland for the last week for work doing 14 hour days and had no time to finish. :'( Mostly slept yesterday. o_o
-
That's a shame :?
-
That’s a shame Kev - hope you finish it at some point :)
-
That’s a shame Kev - hope you finish it at some point :)
yes I Would like to see it finished as well
-
Heck yes I will, I'm not wasting it! I may get it finished next week but just not in time for the competition.
-
Excellent 8)
-
That's too bad you were unable to finish for the competition but I look forward to seeing the end result: I expect it will be great. :D
-
That's a shame :?
Indeed. So sorry to hear that.
